Saban has won national championships with multiple different OCs, many of whom were not big names or even had negatives attached to them. Don’t you worry. Bama will be just fine.

It's a wait and see for me. I'm much more concerned about the DC hire. Rees will have a lot of talent that he hasn't had before...it will be interesting.

The most interesting thing about him so far is that last year when Kelly was hired he told him to frick OFF!!! and this year he told Saban yes?

Why would he rather coach for Saban than under his mentor?

Why is that?

I think he will be fine right now. My concern is the future if we go run heavy again. Can they still recruit and sign the elite qb’s and wr’s.

I love it. Absolutely love it. BAMA fans have been begging for a more consistent/physical running game and this guy keeps talking about "running the damn ball."

The Fighting Irish ran the ball 532 times last year and passed only 338 times, for a percentage split of 61/39. Before all you school girls lose your collective mind, well, because that's what you do when you don't really know the sport you claim you, love, Rees is scheming to his strengths. BAMA's talent is an entirely different animal.

"He frequently employed the "12" personnel grouping (one running back, two tight ends) at Notre Dame; and in short-yardage and goal-line situations, two tight ends aren't always enough for him. His offense got to the line of scrimmage quickly but did not always to snap the ball quickly. At times, in what has been described as a "scan" offense, the idea is to allow for plenty of time to adjust to how the defense presents itself, and change the play if necessary."

For all you novices on the Rant, and there are many, coach Saban is lining BAMA up for another version of murder ball. Beautiful hire.

Expecting to turn 3* kids into 5* players is silly. For every example of where that happened, there’s a hundred where it doesn’t

Honestly I don't know what to think of him yet, but he's GOT to be an improvement over BOB and with that I'm guardedly optimistic about the offense.

I'm more interested in the DC role and hoping it's Pruitt.

This is an obvious we couldn't get who we wanted hire and it straight up shows. Not only that, I find it hard to believe this guy was in the top five.

You are what your record says you are. We each say that to rival fanbases all the time and we're right to do it.

Well his record at a program that plays what amounts to a glorified group of five schedule is uninspiring to balls out bad.

I wish I could say this hire is a head scratcher but it's not. This hire is emblematic of a program that may finally be in decline. For whatever reason, a coordinator worth having didn't want to come to Alabama and it probably has something to do with Nick Saban. Personally, I think Saban might be checking out.

Because the time it takes to put the number one class together and by a lot, clearly shows a man on the decline.

Keep pissing against the wall and wishing. BAMA is about to be BAMA.

I don't mind the hire, Saban isn't worried about making the splash flashy hire that everyone expected him too.. There is no doubt that Dan Mullen and Kliff Kingsbury are great offensive minds, but hiring former head coaches can be very tricky.. I personally think Dan Mullen is too mentally weak to be a coordinator under Saban, he never took accountability for anything while coaching at Florida.. I am completely ok with the "boring" hire, this is a hire Saban would of made early on in his tenure at Bama.

Clear sign Saban no longer has the ability to pull top talent at coordinator positions.

With McElwain Bama was still just crushing teams with the running game and some play action.

You paid double the market value worth for an OC that no one else was even after and most people have to Google when they hear his name after being publicly turned down by multiple higher profile targets.

I’d hardly call Rees “the Man” but the copium is strong with the Bama fans right now so whatever helps.

Saban is obviously a fan of Brian Kelly's offense.

Notre Dame wanted him. LSU wanted him. Miami wanted him. BAMA wanted him.
