Schuman would be really solid. One of the best recruiters in the country. Check out the ILBs that Georgia's signed last winter and for this winter.

Been with Kirby since Day 1 at Georgia. Really relates well with the players.

Kirby came in with 100% control. There is ZERO chance of Glenn getting that at A&M.

Is there a single candidate who both has the juice to stand up to the booster cabal and would chose A&M over the bottom of the top tier programs? I can't think of one.

The solution is to hire a younger guy for less and let him grow and prove himself on the job. As he plants roots and develops the culture he makes A&M more value to him than outsiders. That way, if he has the kind of success that warrants a big contract, you can match or outbid other suitors, and you'll have a guy you can count on staying long-term.

And if he doesn't have the kind of success you find acceptable, you can just hire someone else.

Would be a huge mistake to take him as your head coach.

So, it's possible.

Bjork let Freeze have hookers and blow at OM. He can’t be that bad to work for.

Talking about a coaching hire and mentions big brother. Color me shocked.

Some coordinators make the transition to head coach seamlessly. Some never do. And most are somewhere in the middle, figuring it out over the first 3-5 years. You won’t give him 3-5 years to figure things out.

I know Kirby and Lanning were never HC's before but it's still a gigantic risk.

I don't think Kirby was a risk at all. After all the success with Saban at Bama and bringing Scott Cochran with him, he had a huge ceiling and a small floor coupled with a weak East

Throw in the fact he was an All SEC safety for UGA, no fan was disappointed in that hire.

The AD made a very smart and safe move with Kirby.

UGA let Mark Richt go with plans in place. And he understood it, still lives in Athens, and will always be revered by UGA fans. Loves this University, and he just got inducted into the hall of fame In. This isn’t same situation.

Hey AGGIES... Your AD is a piece of work.

He should have been shown the door right along side of Jimbo.

For every Kirby or Bob Stoops you have 10 Muschamps or Germys.

He’s an Alabama alum. If he turns out to be good, he’ll leave when mama calls.

The Aggie football program has a LOT of issues. Jimbo didn’t even crack the top three on the list of problems. He may be gone, but the rest of the problems are still there regardless of who is hired. The new coach is going to have to defeat two teams every week, whoever they are playing and Texas A&M.

If I were an A&M fan I'd be concerned that the hiring criteria at A&M becomes less about the best choice to win games and more about flaunting the price tag.

The coaching version of a 35 room house where not a single room has much better quality than a Motel 8.

Other than Shula, who was your last hire that didn't have HC experience? Shouldn't you encourage the litmus test so mama has some info to decide?
