That 2008 Florida team was tGOAT.
A Heisman winner at the helm while another one sits on the bench. And then you have a #1 pick at wide receiver and a future All-American tight end.
Jesus Christ.

Did we really underachieve in 2012 and 2003 by losing to the national title winner in the conference title game? Do you really expect us to win the national title or conference title every year and anything else is underachieving? Maybe 2007 we underachieved, but UGA 2007 was 2011 Bama before 2011 Bama was 2011 Bama.
Saban and Spurrier have been the bane or Richt's existence. Plain and simple, they're better coaches. Take away either of them and Richt already has a title, if not multiple titles. Just because his era fell at the same time of two of the SEC's best all-time coaches doesn't he underachieved.

Yes.

Nope. But winning at least one conference title in 9 years with loaded teams should be expected.

Again Auburn won two conference titles and a national title with less talent on the roster in that same era. Also Spurrier's Era was pre-Richt. If you can't beat Spurrier at USCe then you don't deserve a championship anyways.

Seriously though, I think everyone can agree that while Pruitt may not be the miracle worker that some fans are hoping for, he is clearly a step above those two as far as coordinator hires go.
His defense may fall short of what fans are hoping for, but does anyone think that we're really going to be bad on that side of the ball or more like slightly below average (assuming the defense doesn't turn out great). Could we possibly be worse than last year? I can't see it, that was one of the worst defenses ever fielded at UGA.

You mean like last years National Championship game? Florida State played.....who?

But seriously. If my team had finished 17th I would want to belittle everyone that finished ahead of me too, so I understand how you feel.

Well fine, in the last 5 years, no college team has developed players capable of starting in the NFL like UGA.

Richt just recruits late bloomers. Not his fault that the rings are lacking in Athens.

Just going off the top of my head, Tennessee has had some pretty good starters on offense in the NFL as of late. Mychael Rivera was a pretty good TE for Oakland last year, Cordelle Patterson, Justin Hunter, and Arian Foster. Denarius Moore had a pretty good rookie year, but he's struggled with drops as of late and Oakland not having any consistency at QB hurts. That's just the past few years, not including Manning or Jason Witten.
LSU has had a lot of really good defensive players too in the NFL. Reid was one of my favorite rookie players to watch last year, just right after Eddie Lacy.

Richt is good at recruiting outstanding individual players who go on to become successful in the NFL; not so good at developing complete teams that compete for NC's.

Richt doesn't do most of the recruiting.
Credit Bobo, McClendon, Lily, and Grantham for a lot of the signees the past 4 years.
The issue with conference championships and moving on from there is running the football and stopping the run.
Richt's expertise is playing QB. Dominating on the ground game is more dependent on a freak like Gurley because Richt doesn't have the know-how to do it with our typical tailback recruits (the good news is that recruiting at tailback has taken steps forward with McClendon coaching the position. The good news is also that Pruitt works at making teams one dimensional by winning the line of scrimmage on 1st and 2nd down.
We'll have to wait and see where UGA goes from here. Unfortunately, this is probably Gurley's last season at UGA.

Fwiw until Chizik was hired, Auburn rarely had elite recruiting classes
You guys like to say it is Richt's fault about everything....so...who's fault is it that Auburn apparently has been recruiting poorly? Your coaches, maybe?

Yeah, but...when you ranked SEC teams in the order that you liked them, you ranked Georgia #13! That hurts my feelings!
