SEC reality check

What part of OU has been very bad on offense all year against the likes of Temple and Houston do you not understand?

OU is not fun to pick on because they are by far the least obnoxious of the “good teams” in the SEC

Figures the one that doesn’t get on my nerves sucks this year

You act as if this offensive line is what we are used to. We replaced all five lineman this year and have had injury problems on top of that.

Of course we aren’t SEC ready. We happened to have come into this season with the worst offensive line I can remember at OU.

The NFL is full of former OU offensive linemen who are pro bowl caliber players. Best left tackle in the game is an OU guy and future hall of famer. Best center is an OU guy. One of the best guards is an OU guy. Our former offensive lineman make more money than all of Texas’s NFL players combined.

Okla's excuse so far is that "We already sucked, SEC has nothing to do with it". Yet they didn't suck too much for that 15th ranking, did they?

And Texas has yet to play an SEC game and already crowned themselves champions.

Texas is the Notre Dame of the SEC. Soft as a baby.

I disagree.

He may not have been and instant star, but he didn't have any turnovers (Jackson had 3), he got some yards with his legs and managed 7.3 yards per pass attempt and got a TD as a freshman being put in mid game against a pretty good defense.

Worst case you can say his play was average. Jackson Arnold on the other hand truly sucked.

My wife and I talked about the state of college football watching the game. Dillion Gabriel, a known Sooner commodity and legit Heisman candidate was sent packing for fear of losing the next great thing in Jackson Arnold.

Oklahoma, with that defense, wins that game with Gabriel.

Coaches gambled and it probably will cost a lot of them their jobs.

Tennessee, with Okla having that defense, probably doesn't take its foot off the gas in the second half with Gabriel behind center.

In other words, your opinion means squat.

I thought Heupel put the offense on cruise control most of the night.
I expected more deep balls and a much more wide open attack from Tenn.

I agree that we would have had a good chance.

And I was someone who was ready to move on fro Gabriel because his ceiling is not very high. Sure he'll manage the game and move the ball with shorter passes but he can't beat you deep. But he would have been a big improvement over Arnold.

BTW, I am not giving up on Arnold. I think he still may be a very good QB one day. The game is just too fast for him right now especially with the line and pert near every receiver being out.

I think running is a strength of his but I think the RPO is too much for him right now. He consistently make the wrong read on it. If he is to play again, I would simplify things. Let him hand off and learn to read the defense on pass plays.

Sending QBs that good off to the highest bidder is telling. Dan Lanning wins the lotto this year but he may well be on the other side of the QB room soon enough.

The most important guy on the team is the GM of the portal, NIL, and high school recruiting. Whatever a successful GM is making, at any school, he will soon be getting a big raise. I suspect Coordinator money very soon.

They did and if OU's offense was more capable they might have put up more points. But OU's defense played a role in that and Tenn might have also had more turnovers.

Heupel wasn't being easy on OU. He was playing the odds as good coaches do.

Yup, but Gabriel also turns those turnovers into 10-14 points.

OU screwed up their QB situation, otherwise that game may have gone another direction.

Tennessee was in control the whole game. Freshman QB in a hostile environment. Did not have to do anything fancy. Game could not have turned out better for UT.

Tennessee was on idle speed in a no wake zone. Had they needed to get on a plane it'd been ugly for OU. Its doubtful that Venables is unaware of how bad it could have gotten.

Both can be true. Simply put this offense is nowhere near what we are used to. That said our defense is better than it has been in 15 years.

Btw I am not saying we suck. I am saying the offense sucks and has all year.
