Tennessee being so low shouldn’t be shocking, but for some reason it still is. The Vols used to be strong, it’s kind of sad to see where they’ve been for over a decade now.

Pretty amazing that is all they have, considering that they had just won two of the last three NCs.

Tim Tebow was a blessing and a curse.

17 of the 25 came under Butch Jones in his 5 seasons.

Even more impressive is the fact that 12 of the current 14 members have at least 1 national championship in football. Throw in OU & Texas and that makes it 14 of 16 (maybe someday, Mississippi State, South Carolina). No other conference comes close to the SEC in this standard.

It is shocking. I mean, every power from Notre Dame to USC to Alabama to OU to UGA has had a period of time in which they recessed for a few years.

But, they all bounced back. Tennessee's been down since 2005 -- 15 years now -- and it doesn't look as if they're going to come back any time soon.

Nebraska is in the same fix. Other programs that may not come back at all (without having the longevity of success like Nebraska & Tennessee) are Miami and Florida State.

Texas is in danger of never getting back to the top again. I'm serious. They'll be ok to good, but not great again. Things don't bode well for them in the long run.
