Has there ever been a weaker slate of opponents in a single week of football?

Current SP+ ratings for all football divisions:

#33 Louisville (Ole Miss)
#50 Clemson (LSU)
#52 Baylor (Auburn)
#104 Texas State (Texas)
#106 East Carolina (Alabama)
#122 Florida Atlantic (Florida)
#141 Austin Peay (Vanderbilt)
#146 Youngstown St (Kentucky)
#164 Missouri St (Texas A&M)
#165 UTEP (Oklahoma)
#176 Kent St (S Carolina)
#201 Louisana-Monroe (Miss St)
#203 Furman (Tennessee)
#287 Tennessee St (Georgia)
#318 Ark Pine Bluff (Missouri)

Average ranking is #155. There's only like 135 FBS programs. That's unbelievable. No wonder we went 16-0!

LSU doesn't play a ranked opponent in October.

Alabama plays three.

Completely agree. It’s all the playoffs fault, strength of schedule has no place in the scenario. Losses have no real significance in the scenario. You have a 3-4loss team getting in playoffs every single year since its inception…

Cfp has simply ruined the regular season and made it a check the box. The season is a sleeper and you turn it on in January.

It’s very sad. I wish we could go back to BCS and but go with a 4-8 team bracket take the human element out of it other than what the bcs accounts for in the AP poll

LSU took the highest rated opponent at #23 and sent them to the bottom of the top 50.

It remains to be seen how much of that was Clemson sucking.

Of course. No one predicted that Va Tech would win the ACC in 2007 after LSU beat them 48-3 in the opener.
