South Carolina will beat NC State.
That Ole Miss vs Cal prediction should probably be revisited.

This may be a dumb question, but how does S&P+ work when there have been no games to factor yet?

Not dumb at all. It weighs heavily on prior year, returning production and overall roster makeup.
It's definitely an estimate.

a 4-8 team who lost most of their team is going to beat an 8-5 team who returns 18/22 of their starters and 10/11 of the #15 defense along with the #3 class? Fake news.

Maybe not, but Notre Dame played a hard schedule and lost a ton of close games. With a normal schedule and normal results they were probably more like a 7-5 type team than 4-8.
@ Texas by 3
vs MSU by 8
vs Duke by 3
@ NCSU by 7
vs Stanford by 7
vs Navy by 1
vs Virginia Tech by 3
Their only loss by more than 1 score was USC by 18 when USC was rolling.
So, Georgia is probably better and should be favored, but Notre Dame wasn't nearly as bad as their record last season. FPI has Notre Dame at 51.2%. The first Golden Nugget lines have Notre Dame as a 3 pt favorite.
So, it's not just 1 algorithm spitting that out.

In the hurricane right? I just felt bad for whoever lost. It got to a point where somebody was going to score because the other defense all fell down.

Week 1.
Bama covers.
NC State vs South Carolina? They both suck, stay away.
Michigan covers in a close one.
A&M not only doesn't cover, UCLA wins the game.
Tennessee, see A&M outcome.
LSU beats BYU but does not cover.
I'll wait until after the first week to give an opinion on Week 2 or Week 3 games... other than, Ole Miss favored @ Cal? That has to be a joke.

those helmets were legit
-18.5 is a little weird considering BYU isn't a cupcake

I'm not as optimistic about them as you are and here's what I see in the schedule:
Texas by 3 (5-7 and lost to Kansas)
MSU by 8 (3-9 team)
Duke by 3 (4-8 team)
NCSU by 7 (good team)
Stanford by 7 (good team with great RB)
Navy by 1 (decent team, had a good year)
VT by 3 (real good team)
So that's four losses to good teams. Not bad but if you look at UGA this way then we were 5 points away from 10-2 in smarts first year. We have an easier schedule this year so 10-2 is definitely a possibility. Looking forward to these games and hope bama rolls along with the SEC

Yea, I certainly don't think it means Notre Dame was really good or anything, but I think 4-8 just jumps off the page as "terrible" when they were dysfunctional and found ways to lose, but probably could have easily been 7-5.
Either way, I expect Georgia to go up there and win. I'm really jealous of that trip, should be a blast.

It would look better with the SEC logo on the back. Bring em on down!

I can't spend $700 plus the plane ticket, lodging, and food. I'll be looking forward to 2019 though.
