He’s going to be an advisor to DeBoer and be an authority with the sport as a whole.

His biggest influence at Alabama will be to make sure that the administration and boosters all buy into DeBoer’s leadership. The last thing Saban wants is for DeBoer to be met with resistance when he tries to do things his way.

If he were to call all the shots, then why retire?

The NCAA doesn't recognize that year.

This will not sustain and there is no way I believe this is happening. Saban is done but will be used as a consultant for the Unoversity. The rest of his life he will be filled with obligations to UA. He will retire but be a phone call away when needed.

I remember when Pat Dye used to hover around the program, calling the shots, leaning over the other coaches shoulders. Good times

No he’s not. They’re saying this stuff so a dozen sister wives don’t lose their lives.

Coach is headed to the lake.

Funny, how not one of you gumps said Saban is “old and doesn’t have the physical mentality / fire that’s needed for a head coach and it has shown” all season.

Fake season that no one respects

SEC Ranters from opposing teams are the only people that feel this way

Won't work digging up a buried grandad hoping he'll leave you something in the will. You may not, but Saban knows, that's not in the interest of either AL or the new coach.

As a fan of an opposing team, I can only hope this is how it plays out.

I’m not sure how you can say that and be act like it’s a good thing. Is it just your crimson glasses?

It screams shite show, honestly.
