Congrats! Happy for you guys!

When will this be announced?

I was told he’d accept Miami, Oregon, Arkansas, and plenty other openings, yet he never did. But I’m sure it’s different this time!

You might get him. Just know you’ll have to make him the highest paid coach in college football to do it.

Plus pay his buyout from Ole Miss.

His base salary this year is $7.25MM.

After incentives he’ll be making closer to $9MM.

In addition to his buyout, exactly how much is Auburn willing to pay him annually?

No Ole Miss poster has yet to provide anything showing what his buyout is.

Know why? Because they can’t, because that was never made public.

And you damn better believe after Ole Miss had to double his salary last year to keep other programs off, they would be pushing that out everywhere if it was anything substantial.

In reality, there is nothing compelling to make Lane dumb enough to chain himself to a program like Ole Miss, and he was in the power position, not the school.

So many words to avoid my very simple question:

Yes and no. It’s been 2 days. The concerning part is lane is quiet. That’s what I’d be worried about.

Does that mean someone died and missed the wake?

I have no idea. Its not my money. But I do know your fantasy about Lane agreeing to some outrageous buyout is exactly that….a fantasy.

We can definitely pay him more than Ole Miss that’s for sure. Does Auburn think he’s worth it? Who knows.

Lane isn't going anywhere. He's learned a couple lessons in life the last decade. He will leverage additional $$$ and stay put until a future opportunity. He'll only get one more Grade A Top 5 opportunity in his career. That won't be wasted on a dysfunctional Auburn program. You guys need to find an older stud coach who wants to cash out or a young up and comer whos willing to take the gamble. Lane's already flamed out once by making bad decisions.

Then again Stupid Is as Stupid Does.

We know.

Did you know this?

Lane’s base salary is $7.25MM this year.

Auburn has never paid a coach that high of a base salary.

I’m sure he will like popping the lock on that new $100 million plus football only facility AU will soon open. Ole Miss still playing outdoors only or did they get a Quonset hut constructed?

You think he's going to bolt for a practice field?

You do realize that we've had one of the nicest indoor facilities for quite a long time now, and we are adding on to it to Kiffin's specifications?

$100MM? That’s cute.

We’re in the middle of a $350MM capital campaign.

$215MM of that is earmarked for football.
