I think CAP is gonna shock a lot of people this year. I know they'll split carries, but I think CAP will be better than Tre.

Coming off a knee injury after losing carries as the back up just isn't enough of a reason to be on this list IMO. Especially when the returning starter is going to get as many touches as Perkins is. I'm willing to have my mind changed, but you need to make a reasonable and compelling argument.

I will nominate Kenny Hilliard.

We've seen him have big games and we've seen him completely disappear at times. Sometimes last year he ran softer than Ronnie Wingo, when he should have been running like Jerome Bettis.

But, Jeremy Hill's uncertain situation, and Alfred Blue's injury rehab mean that Hilliard will be counted on.

Also, last year he was dealing with his girlfriend just having had their twins and all the issues that come along with that. I think he'll have a better handle on it this year and be in better shape knowing he'll be counted on more than this season.

He's got the talent, I think it comes together for him this year.

I'll add him against my better judgment.

Hilarious how people don't understand how a watch list works.

At least I laid out an argument and didn't just give you a name.

ETA: I think Terrance Magee and probably Jeryl Brazil are going to be counted on in LSU's backfield as well this year, but I don't think they qualify for this list.

Agreed, CAP has the special extra something from what I saw at A-Day. I am excited to see him this year.

Are you arguing to remove Malena from the list?

Look out for I'Tavius Mathers. Kid has the tools to be a beast in this running scheme.

Barring injury, I can't see him getting enough touches to make the watch list. I'm not discounting him completely, but I think he will have to earn his way onto the list after the season starts.

He was running against Auburn's defense. That is not much of a measuring stick.

Kenyan Drake

quote:

April 6, 2013

Spring Scrimmage Stats

T.J. Yeldon and Kenyan Drake both ran well with Drake leading the way with 85 yards on 11 carries. He broke loose for a 58-yard touchdown run up the middle and averaged 7.7 yards per tote. Yeldon carried 16 times for 63 yards and one score while freshman Derrick Henry ran rushed for 52 yards and added 27 receiving.

quote:

Yeldon (freshman year highlights), a 1,131-yard rusher with 12 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2012, is the far-and-away shoe-in candidate for the No. 1 spot as a running back, or at least the 1A that Lacy was last year.

Again, like the quarterbacks, the biggest question is the No. 2, or for running backs, 1B spot.

The leading candidate judging from the 2012 season is Kenyan Drake (freshman year highlights), another true freshman on last year’s team that filled in during blowouts and gained valuable experience from it, carrying the ball 42 times for 285 yards and five touchdowns despite being suspended for the Western Carolina game.

Last year, behind Lacy and Yeldon.....

quote:

2012 (FRESHMAN): Has played in 11 games during his true freshman season, coming off the bench to rush 39 times for 273 yards and five touchdowns. Michigan: Ran once for two yards in collegiate debut. Western Kentucky: Took advantage of his only carry against the Hilltoppers, finding the endzone on a 32-yard run. Arkansas: Rushed six times for 57 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown. Florida Atlantic: Recorded a touchdown for the third straight game, while rushing five times for 35 yards ... scored on an eight-yard run to open the fourth quarter. Missouri: Carried the ball four times for 11 yards, including a four-yard touchdown. Tennessee: Ran the ball four times for 22 yards, with a long rush of 10 yards. Mississippi State: Rushed eight times for 47 yards, including a three-yard touchdown. Auburn: Ran for a season-high 67 yards on a season-best 10 carries, with a long rush of 38 yards.
