I was going to reply that the catcher had to be in catchers box behind home plate with box similar to baseball. Before posting I researched the box and plate layout for softball, glad I did. The catchers box for softball is HYUGE. So you're right as rain. The catcher should have stepped way over away from the plate for the intentional walk as you described.
Now it makes the catchers mismanagement even worse!

Pumping? He had 3 daughters who played softball and only got into coaching because he didn't enjoy being away from his daughters. Also lost his youngest daughter in a car wreck back in 2019 but still coaches because being on the field makes him feel close to her. Yeah dude he totally does sound like a clown.

Tornado sirens are going off in Lubbock as there is a large tornado in the vicinity of the old Reese AFB. Hope the Tech fans ride it out ok.
