In a vacuum, a DC with 7 years of SEC DC experience, including 4 years as Saban's right hand man would be a pretty attractive resume for most jobs. Pete has had several HC opportunities but as the highest paid DC in the SEC, he could be pretty picky.

I think if you asked most bama fans they’d say Kirby contributed to their success. Conversely, I think they’d say bama won in spite of Golding.

Not being interested until this opening happened disqualifies him from being a good coach?

I don't think anyone is talking themselves into anything. Let's wait and see how he does. He could be an excellent head coach. He might not be. Regardless, we had to secure the program in the here and now.

I am obviously hopeful that he does fantastic but I am also realistic.

It’s heavily rumored he was acting as head coach during your current 11-1 season as you sit 6th in the CFP rankings.

Of all of the insanity being bandied about, this one cracks me up the most. The level of delusion and cope in this is astounding.

I don’t think they were in a position to do much else. He may be a one and done, if so they’ll have a jump start on next year’s hiring cycle.

This makes a lot of sense. I think it was a smart move for Ole Miss to hire Golding right now. Priority one was securing as much continuity as they could for the playoff run. If Golding turns out not to be the right guy, cut bait and move on. With the advent of the transfer portal, coaching hiring mistakes are nowhere near as catastrophic as they used to be. .

Post where his defenses ranked nationally since that is what he is responsible for. Here, I'll help you:

You just made up rankings retard.
Ole Miss Defense was ranked #2 in the country last season. Ole Miss also had the #3 offense. Yet somehow lost to Kentucky Sunbelt Billy and last but not least Brian fricking Kelly. Hmmmmmm it’s almost like Kiffin is a choke artist.

Lebby was pretty much the HC in 2020.
This is widely known. We didn’t expect lane to make it more than a couple years. Ole Miss had to force Kiffin to go to rehab because he was such a fat drunk retarded slob in 2020.

But yet your administration was desperate to retain him despite all this less than a week ago. Can you explain that seemingly humongous inconsistency? No? Didn't think so.

Perhaps. But it seems odd if an administration were propping up a fat, lazy, drunken coach, who apparently (at least according to Ole Miss fans in the past week) isn't even really the coach, that administration would not want to extend him at 12-14 million a year. Now if that wasn't the case, then it would make more sense they would fight like hell to keep him. But maybe that's just me.

Fact is, LSU is walking a more precarious path than OM. I believe Kiffin is literally a sociipath, and the LSU environment is gas on his pilot light.

Just a matter of time...

No one outside of LSU would have offered Coach O a HC position the year y’all did and it got you a natty.
