Good gravy Arkansas had some white dudes who could ball. Matt Jones and that running back #33. And Houston Nutt has always been a goofy lookin SOB

Arkansas was a decent football team that year. They were 5th in the west, only ahead of mississippi state. I guess they needed a few more white boys that could ball. Lol. Don't blow shite out of proportion.

Nutt never had great defenses but they were always decent with some guys who could lay the wood. Tony Bua, Jermaine Petty and some of those guys were fun to watch.

Then you have Jason Peters and Shawn Andrews. Probably the best two OL we've had at one time, even though Peters played TE.

Jones had such a good first step and long stride, he was ridiculous. He would be awesome in the evolved spreads today.

Is he still in and out of trouble?

Last I heard he is doing well and hosting a radio show. Nice guy when I had classes with him in college.

In Malzahn's system and given a decent supporting cast I think Jones wins a Heisman and reaches the CFP at least once in his career. He had the raw athletic ability that Gus wants for his QBs and was a decent enough passer to have damaged teams with the play action passes.

Arkansas toyed with both the read option and triple option out of the shotgun... often with great success... but it was just to far out of Nutt's comfort zone to be run as often as it should have. Gus would have borrowed a page from the Flash TV show and spent most of the game saying "Run, Matt, run."

I read where he left The Buzz. Not sure what he's doing now.

Loved watching Jones play QB but wonder what it would have been like with Tavaris Jackson at QB and Matt at WR.
