Didn't even know we did this, but it's on Wikipedia FWIW:
South Carolina claims a women's basketball championship during the 2019–20 season because of polls after the season ended abruptly because of COVID-19.
Wonder if we hung a banner.. legit think we would've won the title in women's bball that year. We probably should've won the last one too.
But it looks like all we actually have to claim is:
Men's
Baseball (2): 2010, 2011
Women's
Outdoor Track and Field (1): 2002
Basketball (1): 2017
National team titles that are not recognized by the NCAA:
Women’s
Equestrian (6): NCEA Hunt Seat National Champions: 3 (2007, 2006, 2005)
NCEA National Champions: 3 (2015, 2007, 2005)

We're going to claim 2020 baseball because apparently that what premiere teams in other college sports do.

Officially, Ole Miss has 2 according to the NCAA.
1960 football (controversial because it ruins a lot of people's talking points)
2021 Women's Golf

Ole Miss 2020 baseball champs. Only way we'll get it with Bianco around is if he doesn't have to go to Omaha.

Thought SC had some in equestrian? (unless you're only counting NCAA)
Posted on 7/2/21 at 9:31 am to Oxford Ways
I was just counting NCAA, but Wikipedia did show Equestrian as a 'NCAA Emerging sport' - is Equestrian ever going to be sanctioned by the NCAA?
Looks like we have 3 in that sport.

Seeing as it’s the same team, but add a couple 1st round picks to it, I agree. Take the Bama approach with this shite.

Yea it seems like it's been emerging for a while now.... SEC has actual conference champions with it so I always sorta counted it. We have a club team at Ole Miss but idk who they compete against

I'm curious what people think about teams claiming championships.. I mean for our women's bball during the covid year I think we only lost 1 game all season before it stopped. Yeah we were 32-1; our only loss to #17 Indiana. I don't see an issue with this particular case since there was no national championship actually played.
Now claiming a championship when another team was actually in the game and won it, I wouldn't want to claim that.
And who knows if we actually claim that ourselves or is that just what they do when you finish in both AP and Coaches #1 and for some reason a title isn't competed for?

Personally, I think schools should only go with what the NCAA and conference recognizes (Hence our 2) bc you never know what could happen in a tournament or title game

I agree.. just sucks because COVID blew our season and then we had a chance again this year. But yeah I don't like the UCF approach.

It says we have 6 Equestrian titles but wtf does this even mean?
NCEA Hunt Seat National Champions: 3 (2007, 2006, 2005)
NCEA National Champions: 3 (2015, 2007, 2005)
Some overlap - just different competitions by the same governing board?
