True but Miles, Saban and Orgeron didn’t have top ten classes at their previous stops and Kelly likely had only a couple if any.

Regardless of your hate for LSU, it matters what school you’re being recruited to.

How many top classes did DeBoer have at Washington compared to what he’s had at Bama?

To start, I don't hate LSU. Some of your fans are pretty dumb, but that's about it. I would generally pull for LSU to win against most teams.

I do expect he will have top10 classes at LSU as well. I only mentioned Kiffin's recruiting because it was being talked about in terms of strength and weakness. I just added context that he's not actually a great recruiter. LSU isn't going to gain a boost there.

When Alabama hired DeBoer, nobody was claiming he was going to be some greater recruiter or anything. We presumed that he would probably recruit decently because of Alabama, we didn't expect him to provide a recruiting boost or anything.

He's never pulled in a top10 class counting transfers.

I don’t think this is true. Might want to fact check yourself

His roster turnover is pretty crazy.

So we'll see if that changes with LSU classes, I think it'll need to.

Yeah I agree with this. Two things:

1. I think it’s a conveniently appropriate approach for, specifically, a coaching transition in 2025

2. I think it may have been necessary for his situation, but I’m optimistic it won’t be a huge issue for us if he can recruit the state reasonably well

I was shocked when I heard about the Kelly hire and remember my first thought being (a) he seemed like a great cultural fit for ND and (b) He seems like a square peg in round hole for LSU (or Texas or any other SEC team).

Lane had a lot more media circus but I think he’ll do very well at LSU.

Lane is a much more exciting hire. However BK was a bigger hire. LSU pulling the Ole Miss coach is expected. LSU pulling Notre Dames all time winningest coach was unexpected.

I can absolutely agree with this.

Transfer portal can be good for plugging in holes, but I'm not sure you want to be doing 40+ every single year though. I know Alabama had a good bit of transfers last year with the new coaching staff, so I won't think it crazy for LSU to have a lot of incoming transfers this year etc.

But you should be seeing less and less each year, where as at Ole Miss it was often times that he got more and more.

Indiana had some success getting veteran players from the portal the past 2 years, but also the only 2 years Cignetti has been there. 46 total commits last year, 48 the previous year.
