I mean I guess when the current Pitt coach leaves at the end of the 2015 season as is Pitt tradition he'll be in instant contention for HC but otherwise, how humiliating is it to have your SEC OC leave you for PITT
Only comparison I can think of is having your DC leave your program for the abomination of a defensive position at A&M

Arkansas wanted him to leave, hence why they didn't offer him a raise.

youve been around long enough to make better threads than this....

we are simply distraught.

They'll tell you they're glad he's gone. Watching his playcalls I've literally never been that astounded at how bad a coach could be at going from what is working to something the offense doesn't have the capabilities of doing.

They "gave away" so they think.

Hmmm... Nontroll response in a troll thread.

I blew my mind as well

I did like his formations and especially how he used TEs, but his play calling did cost us several times. Tennessee fans will say the same thing, he just really wanted to sling the ball around regardless of the scenario

Thank God & sweet baby Jesus someone took him off our hands. He's heavy.

No shite. I think it's funny people really think he left for Pitt on his own. I think he'll do great there, happy for him.
As for us, not a fit....hence no new contract. Expect RB/WR coaches next since they didn't get a new one either. Haven't heard much about them yet though.
I DO feel bad for Brandon Allen but I think every QB since Casey Dick has had multiple QB coaches/OCs except maybe Mallett.

A&M game. Have the lead in 2nd half. Instead of milking clock decides to pass on 1st,2nd, and 3rd down. Was one of the few times I melted this year.

Bret said a couple weeks ago he "gave raises and extensions to those he wanted to keep around." Chaney was not one of the assistants who received one...

Par for the course with that dude.

Yep, we will most likely be looking for a RB and a WR coach as well soon also.
eta: As DC said, cause reading and stuff.

We took care of every one of our assistants that I expressed an interest to do so. Every one of those guys is staying put. I can’t tell you what’s happening out there beyond what I know, but it should be an interesting couple of weeks.
Surprise. Chaney wasn't one of those assistants. Neither was our WR and RB coaches.
Evidently Bret thought they weren't pulling their weight and with a public comment like that, the writing was on the wall.

I can name another. Was it the Mizzou game where Allen was hurt but we kept chunking it anyway at the end of the game? We not only had enough time but Allen couldn't hit the broadside of a barn that half.
Oh and let's not forget the double reverse or whatever the frick, within the 10. Forgot what game that was, it was so awful. Maybe Bama or AU.

From what I read, he was encouraged to leave.

I have no doubt they will overcome this set back and get back to the level they were at prior to his leaving them.
In fact I think they will probably be bowl eligible again despite this

And the infamous short side toss sweep that loses yards every time that he ran 5+ times a game.

I'll never understand coaches calling a toss sweep to the short side of the field.
