Tech CB suspended

The Western Athletic Conference has suspended Louisiana Tech cornerback Chad Boyd for the first half of the Bulldogs game at Fresno State for a helmet-to-helmet hit on LSU wide receiver Terrance Toliver last week.

The foul was deemed a flagrant foul by the WAC office, although the hit was not flagged by the SEC officiating crew at the game.

Miles said Wednesday he submitted the non-call, among several other plays, to the SEC office for a review, which is common procedure after every game.

“We saw the hit, and I turned it in with the idea that it was helmet-to-helmet and I thought it needed to be reviewed,” Miles said.

“It’s nice to see the review process works.”

Tech coach and Athletic Director Derek Dooley didn’t agree with the ruling.

“I am disappointed in the decision and have voiced my respectful disagreement on the rule interpretation and penalty enforcement to the commissioner,” Dooley said in a statement released by Tech. “In the end, the decision is out of our control and our focus is entirely on the challenge that awaits us at Fresno State.”

WAC Commissioner Karl Benson also issued a statement, saying: “A flagrant personal foul should have been called by the game officials, and Boyd should have been ejected from the game at that time.

“By NCAA rules, I am required to review these types of situations, and it was determined that the player clearly committed a flagrant foul, and thus will be suspended.”

Toliver needed medical attention and was wobbly as he left the field. He later returned to the game and has practiced all week.

So as a UGA fan you're happy with the SEC officating this year?

I hope their refs are better than the SEC or the World Cup ones.

If you dont like it, you should pay them more than we do. Until then, good luck losing because of the refs.

I'm sayin the SEC ref's are about as bad as the World Cup qualifying refs that no-called the frickin handball against the Irish. Way too frickin blatant, but their are no replays in Soccer.

let's put this ref deal to bed

it is lousy in the SEC, missed calls, no calls, and if you saw the hit on toliver- this is what they are trying to stop

the wac had the balls to make a call

the sec has not given us the results of the "call" in the bama game - it did not cost us the game , as the call in the georgia game did not cost them the game- hell scott broke clear at the line & no matter where we were - our one or their 45 - he would have scored and they had the same chnace - the same call was made and they could not do what we had done
i always liked dooley - but he has to own up to the hit

What in the hell makes you think you should have beat Alabama? You were outgained by over 200 yards. Alabama edged LSU in first downs, 23-13. LSU had nine, yes nine, total yards in the fourth quarter, and no first downs.

capstone, statistics are so misleading, that point is rather redundant and pointless. How many times has a true fan of the game, seen those same stats in reverse proportion to the team that won the game. Those numbers can get inflated in certain situations after the big $$$$ paying boys have bought out the SEC Commish in Burntham, AL. Read the 3 questions below and tell me the person that these quotes come from? I can tell and I can tell you which group of people that they remind of today.

Q1- ÒIf you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it
will be believedÓ
Q2- ÒThe great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one.Ó
Q3- ÒIt is not truth that matters, but victoryÓ

Jarrett Lee still has to drive 65 yards for a TD. Are you confident he would do that, considering what he had looked liked in the game already. Not to mention, no Charles Scott.
