Perhaps on a pumpkin or the bottom 1/3rd of candy corn, but not on the football field.

Tennessee has disadvantage geography wise...not much great high school talent in Tn...compared to Fl, Ga, SC, Al, Ms and La.

They recruit a few out of Ohio that aren't elite and a few instate that are usually not top 5 or 10 at their position, then the rest are from other southern states and they recruit some from California and a few from NE states.

Now that Jones is on the hot seat and really has been since last year...recruits will be reluctant to sign if they are fairly sought after. I really don't see drastic improvement for Tn next year if Jones is still there and there isn't enough moonshine to drown the hillbillies yell if that happens.

This. Tennessee has very bad in state recruiting, basically on par with Kentucky. Their only benefit is they are in the middle of Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina. And close enough to Florida. But the majority of their best recruits have to come from out of state, so they are at a huge disadvantage.

Given that, losing some of the games they've lost recently is not recruiting but poor coaching and players falling apart.

They want to be Alabama or Ohio State but I don't think that's realistic. Barring stumbling into a homerun hire like Saban or something, they're like a 9-3 or 10-2 ceiling program.

I used to think that, and it may have been true up through 2010 or so.

Tennessee as we knew them from the 70's to the Fulmer era was a school that was built on national recruiting and cherry picking guys from Atlanta.

That's changed. Middle Tennessee is putting out a ton of prospects now. A crapload. It's like a state in itself in that regard. Not as many as Georgia, but comparable to states like South Carolina, Mississippi, and Alabama in number of D1 prospects.

So yeah, I'd love to put nails in Tennessee's coffin, but I don't think it happens.

Saban effect aside, they might be in a better recruiting situation than Alabama. Not as good as Georgia or Florida, but very good.

No, that would be Vandy. But the Chinese don't care about football. That's why there are always more opposing fans than home crowd in the stands at Vandy

Geez. "Legion of the Miserable" out in force.

I want Jones gone just as much as anyone. Hell I didnt like the hire from day one. With all of his midwest car salesman crap.

I NEVER want the VOLs to lose a game though. He just needs to go.
