I don't think this is true necessarily, but certainly some people don't value human life.
Animals, in particular a 6 month old kitten can't protect itself against an adult, so yes, this is a big deal to me. I would feel the same way if this were a 2 year old child.

sure, therapy is warranted, but counseling as the knee jerk solution as demonstrably been a huge failure for us as a society

for those who are taking the attitude - well it is just a cat - the frick is wrong with you? what if it was a puppy? or your puppy? you'd have a completely different attitude about it.
