That’s fine, but the poster I was responding to said many expect him to be worse than the last couple of QB’s they’ve had and that is false

That albino is still going to be a drop off from Mayfield/Murray/Hurts imo

I think Pruitt will have that Vol defense ready to play

Like he did vs Ga. State and BYU? Tenner gave up a ton of points last season and lose a lot on D. I don't think Pruitt can perform at a high level without Bama-type players.

The last 2 guys won heismans, this will be Rattler's 2nd game as a starter

Vols finished top 30 in D last season, up from 77 the year before and 83 the year before that

We are improving and that should continue

I'll be interested to see how much of a dog the vols are in this game as I think they not only cover but can win the game.As long as Guarentano limits his mistakes.

Early lines have Tennessee as a 7 point underdog.

VOLS will go toe to toe with Sooners only to be sabotaged by awful QB play, just like we were in 2014.

Gitmo’s back breaking 4th quarter INT @Sooners will be what opens the door for Harry Bailey’s coming out party against Gators two weeks later imo

Vols improved during the year.

This is what Tennessee does every year.

It's because their schedule is always front loaded. After they play Alabama their schedule is usually pretty easy/light and they win out.

Then the next year they start over-ranked, lose a lot of early games, lose to Alabama, then win out and repeat the process.

Last year is a good example. After the Alabama game they were 2-5.

Then they finish the year 8-5 vs:

South Carolina (4-8)
UAB (9-4 on a terrible SoS)
Kentucky (8-5)
Missouri (6-6)
Vandy (3-9)

And a bowl game against Big10 powerhouse...Indiana(8-5).

I guess it's good they finally beat Vandy though.

Yes, it is good, considering they had beaten us 3 times in a row before that. In fact, we had lost to SC and Mizzou 2/3 years in a row prior to that too. So, like i said, we are improving. We have to beat the lesser teams consistently before we can beat the big dogs

I see your point about the front loaded schedule, and its usually true, but this year we start to play UGA in November so it is different now and will be going forward.

I think we'll lose by two scores... That new heat they'll put in at QB will tear our secondary apart. Our secondary hasn't been strong in ten years, and I don't expect that to noticeably improve right off the bat

QB situation is not great, either. We'll have to rely on ground game to punch us through

Yes, obviously. That’s not the point though. I was responding to the incorrect claim that “Most Oklahoma fans believe Rattler isn’t as good as their previous few.”

That’s clearly incorrect.

Most popular player on the team is the backup qb unless your name is Burrow. There isn't one fan who really knows how good the OU qb will be. Garbage time vs starter is a different paradigm altogether.

I will stand by my statement that a new QB in his 2nd game as a starter will not be as good as 2 players who won the Heisman trophy, and that there will at least be some kind of adjustment period for the new guy.
