The usual scenario is for the AD to take a hardline on dismissing a player while the head coach wants to finagle a way to keep him. Interesting -- yet believable -- that it would be the opposite at Tennessee. Dooley has a whole lot of culture changing to do -- if they let him.

SOMETHING is not right with this story. maybe dooley wants the reputation as a strict disciplinarian without actually having to lose some key position players.

if thats true then dooley is an idiot. the most important people you need to have that kind of reputation among is not the media or outsiders, but your players

and if your players all understand you'd kick them off the team if you had the power to... then they'd at least respect YOU.

I think maybe the AD realizes that if Dooley kicks a lot of those guys off the team, their slim chances of making a bowl game are out the window. And after the Kiffen fiasco, their fans would be up in arms if they lost 7 or 8 games.

Only excuse is if Dooley wanted to dismiss them before the facts were out and Hamilton has said no lets wait so we can confirm who did what

That would get you less respect imo. That tells them they don't have to answer to him really.
