that you somehow think there’s a step up from LSU to Alabama the way there is from Ole Miss to one of those jobs is where you’re wrong.
are you under the impression Nick Saban would have left LSU to go directly to Alabama?
some of you really don’t understand how college football works nor how coaches view these jobs.
he had the #1 high school player in the country in his office 30 minutes after his plane landed in BR and you think there’s a better college job for him to go to?

I feel like this is a coping statement. I honestly don't see why he would go to Bama if he gets LSU rolling. Saban left for the NFL. I can't even see Lane doing that now. To get the same kind of pay, he would already need to be a superbowl winner in the NFL. I don't see giving Lane an Andy Reid type pay with no results.

Yes, I think Nick knows he started what LSU is, Alabama was always a blue blood. The number 1 player in the country is going to Houston, the number 3 is going to Vandy. Things have changed.
Are you really going to sit here and argue that LSU and Alabama are the same jobs? Didn't yall beg Lincoln Riley to come to LSU and he chose USC over yall? Yes, you're as naive as we were if you think he wouldn't drop lsu in a second for bama

so you really are that uninformed

what resources are available at Alabama that aren’t available at LSU? And we don’t have in state competition.
I guess using your hypothetical we will just hire Elko so problem solved.

Honestly, a big part of it is Tuscaloosa is a better place to live than Baton Rouge. No you don't have the state competition but that doesn't matter as much with NIL now. Hell, the best players ever from Louisiana are Peyton and Eli, Marshall Faulk and Terry Bradshaw. How many of those guys went to LSU.
Think it's very telling that Nick Saban wouldn't recommend Lane to Bama but was fine telling lsu they should get him. He knows there's a chance it could blow up and he's fine with that happening at lsu, doesn't want that at bama on his watch.

Realistically it's just the timing of the whole thing. If it happened after the season wrapped up it wouldn't have been as big of a deal.
I really think Lane was trying to figure out a way to navigate it to minimize the damage but the timing of the early signing period and portal make it impossible

Didn't jimbo choose A&M over lsu? Why do you think Elko would leave

Well if we’re inventing fan fiction where Lane goes to bama because it’s somehow a better job (no specifics on why) then why can’t LSU hire Elko for the same reasons? We’ve won more than them over the years is the only criteria i guess.

no Jindal saved Les at the last minute in 2015 and Alleva wanted Herman in 2016.
you really don’t know anything about anything, do you?

Oh, I think ultimately they get there.
It’s just raw.

Maybe your (and Kiffin’s) definition of God is a bit different than ours?

You are stuck in the pre-Covid/NIL mindset. College football 2020-now is a completely different sport.
Do you understand that NIL levels the playing field? If two coaches in a row at ole miss win 55 games in 6 year that would be proof of concept that ole Miss’ booster/NIL buy in is on the same level as Ohio State, Oregon, UGA, Bama, etc. what advantage would Pete gain from jumping to more unorganized programs like Florida and Auburn or make lateral moves to TN Vandy OK?

More historical success
Not in Baton Rouge
No Jeff Landry
Bigger brand
When was the last time LSU finished ahead of Bama in recrutiing?
Higher value (Forbes estimates Alabama to be worth $1.7B and LSU to be worth $1.2B
Most of these were also reasons why LSU is a better job than Ole Miss.

So Alabama is more valuable, attracts better talent, has a better reputation, and in a better location. You're right, people never value those.

most of that isn’t true or is misleading but i know you don’t care about that
like i said, using your criteria we will just hire Elko, problem solved.
if you’re saying Alabama can hire the LSU coach but LSU can’t hire the Texas A&M coach then you’re even dumber than i thought.

Lane definitely improved with the help of Pete Golding
I’m an Ole Miss fan now (2nd only to Auburn) and will be pulling for the Fighting Goldings

Kiffin prayed on it multiples times and God led him to LSU. Really weird seeing so many Rebel fans upset at God’s will. I guess they are satanists up there in Oxford.
