Thats correct, but I think the baseball dollars are only going to go up in terms of revenue, and if a lot of the other sports are cut it doesn't even really need to make that much

Vol baseball was already deep in the red.

If you really increase Vitello pay, your baseball program is going to have a bigger deficit than the budget of all but the top 25 teams in college baseball. I just find that a little strange to go that far.

When Texas enters the league this is the result. They try to money-whip anyone and everyone. I expect Schloss to be making 2M+ next year. Same goes for Bakich and others that are on the list of Texas' targets.

This is how desperate they are to win anything at all. It's been 25 years, they'll throw big money at a baseball coach to have something to talk about with pride.

If you have a top coach, this is the price of business. Vitello is happy in Tennessee but they are smart to lock him down.

Who will Texas get, and what will they pay?

Ignoring the fact that the 2.8 million figure is coming from a known parody account on twitter, it wouldn't cost 2.8 million to lock down Vitello, or anywhere close to that. This isn't football. You don't have to reset the market to hold onto a coach

Will it ever reach a max? I guess as long as the TV contracts are ridiculously high then it will continue but who knows.

Pot.. Kettle..

or did you forget about the contract you paid Jimbo Fisher?
or did you forget the extension and raise you had to pay Jimbo Fisher after LSU went after him..

seriously.. did this make sense in your head?

Does baseball really generate that much revenue?

No, which is why if Texas or any other school wants to pay $3 million to a coach for a non-revenue producing sport you let them do it. The last numbers I could find for Texas suggest that their baseball program operates at an approximate $100k/year loss. It doesn't make sense financially. You can always hire another good coach.

I remember. The market will be reset for baseball this offseason. You can either pay, or lose your coach. I expect it to be more around 2.3M

I think Vitello already makes $1.5 million a year, which puts him behind only Corbin and Johnson in the SEC, both of whom have won national championships. They make approximately $1.6-$1.7 million. You're telling me they are going to almost double his salary based on his current body of work? I don't think so.

Any SEC school should be able to get a very good baseball Head Coach for $1 MM/yr. If they aren't happy with that, let them walk.

Sam Pittman's Salary and Contract in 2024
The contract includes a base salary of $6 million, including additional compensation
Pay V $4 million w NIL. I just watched a lot of really expensive jets land
