TYler you are around 20 or so, right? I hate to tell you this, but UGA has never ever been among the very elite teams in CFB. The guy that you are DGD are trying your best to get out of Dodge is the same guy that actually made UGA relevant to any national discussion. Can the coaching be better? Most definitely, but look at what stellar coaching staffs are putting on the fields at USC and AU. Those were two ugly looking wins as well. And hell, USC has some of the top individual talent in the SEC, especially on the DL.

With all due respect SoGa, I'm well aware of where Richt has brought us from. I'm in my twenties, yes, and I grew up sleeping under the bleachers of a half-empty Sanford Stadium during the 90's. I was at the game as a kid when Spurrier hung 50 on us in Athens. The 90's sucked and the only reason I really enjoyed going to the games was because it was the one time a week that i got to actually see and spend any time with my dad. He had undying love for them and so do I.
So when Richt came aboard and did what he did int he early 2000's, I recognized it was a step up from where we were, btu I also relaized that a sudden shift in culture and attitude can be just that: sudden. It doesn't ahve to be an arduous 5 year process, it can happen in one year, it can happen in one off-season. It did between 2001-2002. it just clicked.
Don't mistake me for one of the usual anti-Richt, change is good people. To this point I still don' want Richt gone, I'd still like for him to be the guy. I want him to succeed, every single time i sit in Sanford, in jacksonville, or on my couch at home.
But we don't have to settle for what we're seeing on the field. Talent, money, fanbase, facilities, it's all on par with bama, LSU, Texas, USC, wherever. And Athens is the pinnacle of College Towns. If Richt can't take the next step, then we find someone who can. I know we've never been the very elite of CFB, but we can be.

Actually, here is where you are somewhat wrong. UGA has a very large fan base, but by and large, they are definitely not as single-minded in their devotion to the god of UGA football as the fan base's of Bama and Auburn and maybe even LSU.

I want UGA to be in the discussion for the SEC championship every year. I stopped basing any satisfaction derived from winning a national championship after 2007 when I saw TPTB change the rules as they wanted to to keep UGA off the field. shite happens every season, and unless you are the media's Anointed One at the beginning of the season, then you best hope that everyone else loses during he season. Just ask Auburn. Hell, just think about life as a Boise State fan,. they have done everything they can, and still no chance. No name team really wants to play them OOC, and no big conference wants them due to geography and the academic side of things. Talk about getting shafted year after year.

Meh.

UGA played the worst special teams game in the whole history of ever. Blocked punt, kickoff return for a TD, gave up the fake punt for the long first down. Crowell sat most of the game, Mitchell was out. And Vandy and their troublemaker still lost in a dirty dirty game by them. Particularly their center.

Not particularly fond of Grantham's actions, but Franklin is bush league and a cry baby.

I hope he loses all the rest of his games this season in the same excruciating manner he lost last night.

So, how does that difference in devotion weigh into the pro-Richt/anti-Richt debate?

I agree, we're not as single-minded, but we are still a very devoted fanbase.

I think it's somewhere in the middle of what they're saying and what we say. Regardless it's the complacent arse bull shite that's handicapped the program.

Complacency and indifference: I think this is what our fanbase and program has that the other three mentioned seem to lack? When Bama loses, the next week is one of mourning. When UGA loses, we just go back to our jobs, studying, relationships, Braves, whatever else and get by until the next week. Our emotions don't hinge on a single game. Is this what we're concluding?

And, if so, does that mean we're somehow less deserving of what those three teams have accomplished in recent seasons? I don't think so. Florida is almost on the exact same level as us as a fanbase, I think. And they more than deserved what they won. We travel well, we invest generously with our time and money. What? Because we have a lot of people unwilling to get loud on third down we just don't want it enough or don't deserve it as much? I call bullshite, and I hope that's not what we're talking about here, that I'm just reading into this all wrong

I think we have the fans like an Alabama but then we have people such as soga who aren't really affected. I think there is just a lot of both. As a whole I dint really like our fan base but at all these games I've been to this year I've been encouraged because everyone is getting mad. Even the blue veins are getting pissed. I usually get yelled at when I holler and birch about this team but this year people agree more often than not.

I dont think the fans are gonna go full gumptard on richt but I think many know there is a lot still very wrong with this program whether they're willing to admit it or not.

What is lacked is a real sense loyalty and devotion to a program. I know that all fans bitch and moan about their program when things are going wrong; the difference is "how" that is done.

For example, no matter how bad things got for Southern Cal very few if any of their fans jumped on the anti-USC bandwagon publically. Instead they rallied their troops, presented a united front and dealt with their displeasure among themselves.

OTOH there is a very vocal online UGA fan base that will jump on, believe and spread any bad rumor about the program.

Another example, I rarely see (if ever) Auburn, LSU or Bama fans agree with the opponents who are skull dragging their program on this message board.

Yet UGA fans do that here all the time.

This is what is different.

There is a lot of delusion in this thread and it makes me sad. UGA has leadership issues. You gotta see that.

EDIT: As an Alabama fan, I need you guys to get a handle on your program. Get this fixed... you are AU's yearly east opponent and this isn't going to be good enough.

I see this too, and it pisses me off.

Does anybody like UGA? They seem like their players and coaching staff are made up of a bunch of punks. So much for being role models and leaders. All the players are staring at their coach thinking - geeze - what an idiot. Wasn't Grantham giving the throat slash to a QB last year? He's a punk.

Which UGA players are punks? Give us names or STHU.

We watch every play of every Georgia game and don't see any "thugness" outside of the norm, excluding THE Celebration of course.
