Once they move to the SEC, he's gonna be crying to daddy Dabo for his DC job back

Bringing in a defensive minded coach to a program that has been focused more on offense for the last 20 years. What could go wrong?

If true, gonna be real interesting to see how Dabo and "Little Ol' Clemson" fares without him. The year before Venables got there they gave up 70 to WVU in the Orange Bowl, and then the next year they beat LSU in the bowl and they've been climbing since then

I'm not sure how I'd feel about Venables as an OU fan. 50 years old is pretty old for your first HC job and it kind of makes you wonder why. He's been a stellar DC at Clemson for awhile now, and he's certainly had chances to be a HC had he shown interest of actually wanting to be one. Why now? Why not before?

Clemson may be done, however, if Venables leaves which wouldn't bother me at all

Eh, Oklahoma was an elite defensive team for most of Bob's tenure. They didn't start playing like they have now until they hired Riley as OC and went the complete opposite direction. They were much more competitive as a program when they were more defensive minded, so them going for that type of coach is probably the direction they need to go especially with their impending move to the SEC

Good, Skeletor is one of the least scary hires you could make.

The biggest problem who is going to be the OC? Might try get one from the SEC? Someone near by? The one that beat Texas earlier this year? This would be a homerun hire if OU can get it done.

Stoops and family are close friends of the Venables despite the fact Bob thought it was a good idea to have two DC. Brent isn't oppsed to a HC job he just didn't like the previous offers for one reason or another,

Good. if he's the guy, I hope he can stabilize things and get y'all some good defensive signal steal-- er... I mean, defensive staff and players in place.

To be fair, wasn't the same said about Smart for awhile before he got the UGA job. He wasn't 50 obviously but was with Nick for awhile.

Different levels since Pittman was an Oline coach but some similarities as well. Many questioned a guy in his 50s all of a sudden being a head coach.

I actually think its a great fit and good timing to get a guy like Venables before their switch to the SEC.
