Is this a day game or a night game?

Sweltering humidity and speed in the front seven are two things Utah is not used to seeing. I thought all offseason that Utah would blow them out but I'm not sure anymore.

I’d like the gators chances a lot more if it was a day game. That 12-5 southern Sun with Florida or Louisiana humidity is very different than what you get really anywhere else in the country.

I still think Utah wins, but there is a reason a top 10-ish team in Utah is a slight favorite at an unranked Florida. I’m not betting this game at all

I can’t figure out Florida. On one hand, Florida was a top 10 team last year at one point that played Alabama within 2-3 points and has the talent. And on the other hand, they have a first year head coach coming off of 6-7 season.

Were they a good team that just fell off bc of coaching and need a jolt to get back to competing or is this a 1-2 year rebuild?

We obviously have the athletes to win this game. It's not as if Utah is gonna overwhelm us with talent. And it's at the Swamp.

There's just a ton of unknowns with a new coach, new schemes on both sides of the ball, AR's development, etc.

But I don't see why anyone would be surprised if we won.

Because typically a lot of unknowns with a brand new staff against an established, known program ranked in the top 10 and returning a good/very good qb is a big upset.

If we play mistake free football we will win. Period. Utah has lesser athletes, and they're playing in an environment that they've never seen. This isn't like Oregon and Tennessee from a few years back, Utah ain't "overwhelming" us with shite.

Sure. I agree. But in those cases the "established" top 10 program isn't a tier or 2 behind in composite roster talent.

In this case they are.

Utah has a very strong advantage at QB. Outside of that it seems to be a bit unknown and the line is based on the public perception of last season's results. Game being in Gainesville will keep it close no matter how much better Utah is than FL, and FL could very realistically have the overall better team. You don't lay points with a PAC 12 team not named USC or Oregon (typically) when traveling across the country to play at a program with a loud environment and rich tradition. Smart bet would be FL simply due to the preseason love for Utah which may or may not be warranted.

Rising is very good for sure. Anthony Richardson is an athletic freak, but inexperienced. Too many question marks at the moment to say how good, or not good, he'll be on Sept 3rd. Point being, it's not totally clear if Utah has a very strong advantage or just a slight one. However, if Emory Jones were still the starter at Florida, then I'd agree with your statement 100%.

We don't need a "fighters chance", we have better athletes across the board. I'm about tired of this Utah nonsense, I fully expect to kick their Mormon teeth down their throat. Once they've had their asses thoroughly kicked, they can return to the Pac-10 with their many wives.

You're confusing Utah with BYU. While there are Mormons on the team...I would say it's minimal compared to BYPew.

It's the Utes' D that I'm not sold on. They're replacing 6 starters off a unit that allowed almost 700 yards in their bowl game. The Gators take control of the LOS (both sides of the ball) in the 2nd half and win a good, close ball game (provided they avoid avoid the cursed early season turnovers & penalties).

Are you ignoring the Rose Bowl and Utah's two games against Oregon and their #5 overall pick DE last season?

A lot of those yards were through the air. I'm not sure what to expect from Florida's pass game this year.

That ASU Wr transfer, Pearsall, has potential to be pretty good, but besides him, Florida doesn't have as many speedy WR's as they should because Mullen is an idiot and recruited his receivers core with bigger, but slower, WR's like he was still at Miss State. Richardson can read pass defenses much better than Jones, but still has a long way to go before being considered a serious passing threat.

There's a belief that the Gators will be run heavy this year, which I think Utah is much stronger against defensively. We'll see if it's true.

If Florida can air it out successfully, they should be able to exploit the weakness in the Utah defense and win.
