The new district along the Downtown Knoxville waterfront will be directly in-between Neyland Stadium and The Tennessee River. Running down the river a bit and tying into Thompson Bowling Arena.
The concept follows what the Texas Rangers, St Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves have done in terms of incorporating retail space surrounding the stadiums.
This is in conjunction with Tennessee spending $337M on renovations for Neyland Stadium, $100M on renovations to Lindsey Nelson and campus wide projects in a move to transform the both the river front & campus.
The new mixed use area is expected to be 175k Sq feet with amenities such as:
-Restaurants / Bars
-Condos
-Hotel
-Shopping
-Swimming Pool / Recreation area
-Space specific for students

That portion of campus has always had a ton of undeveloped potential that materialized as an eye sore. Happy to see the University and city finally start to transform it

Best overall stadium and complex in the nation and it ain't really close.
I heard the surrounding complex will match the design of Truist park/Atlanta Braves stadium.

Add another reason Knoxville is not a college town.

Yeah it reminds me of the Battery. We're in the process of doing something similar with the area around Alex Box and our new basketball arena. Can't wait

The 500 bed Super 8 will be remodeled into a Deluxe Ho House and Sonic meeting room.
I’ve seen the plans and approve.

You're projecting Tuscaloosa asthetics in a Knoxville thread baw. I can smell it through the internet

Why are ya'll the only fan base that doesn't understand the difference between what to post here versus your home board?

It’ll end up being cookie cutter AF no different than some fricking suburb of Charlotte
Craft beer place after craft beer place and some “Irish” restaurant that imported all its wood from County Cork or some shite and don’t forget about taphouses and “artisan pizzerias”
fricking dreary and completely predictable but the upper middle class eats this shite right up

They need to focus on the tiny seats inside Neyland before being concerned with anything else.

The money would have been better spent on a paint job for that rust bucket of a stadium.

Actually...what is going on with stadiums and their surroundings impacts all of us. There is always an arms race in the SEC with facilities.

I like the fact that they are adding more to do near the stadium...but hate the fact that they will be further obscuring the view of the Tennessee River. Being by the water is one of the things that makes Neyland Stadium special...and I do not like that this change will negate some of that.

It’s about Fukin time. I never could figure out why this wasn’t dime decades ago. Such a cool spot that was completely underutilized except that restaurant

Yes, the battery. I'm not really a huge fan of that Truist area at night time when i go there for braves games, but i think it would work really well in Knoxville. Just too many strange people and thugs down in Atlanta for my taste. The facilities there are great though.
