Are things really THAT bad in Columbia?

ESPN has recently posted their pre-season position rankings for QB, RB, and WR, and surprisingly, or maybe not surprisingly at all, USC has been ranked dead last in all three categories.

Spurrier should have been fired 3 years ago.

Yes.

But we won't finish last in any of those categories. 13th, maybe.

QB we will surprise some people. Not many other bright spots on the entire team other than special teams.

Our secondary is the worst position, IMO

Good News is Muschamp can use these rankings to sell playing time in spades A La what Butch did in the 2014 class. I have a feeling he'll reel in a good one for them this year.

The bad news is Muschamp set offensive football back 35 years when he actually had talent at UF. Gonna be another long year for the cocks IMO.

So we should have fired him the year he finished 4th in the country and his third straight top 10 finish? Brilliant, just brilliant.

I am always thinking 3 steps ahead.

What's equally funny is Tennessee's high rankings with a quarterback with a sub-60% completion percentage and a primary back that gets 4.5 ypc.

After Fulmer, Tennessee thought three coaches ahead

Sorry. Couldn't resist

No, but it will make for a nice story when we overachieve those projections. Also it's going to help sell early playing time to recruits.

Our QB situation is not great. Right now we have a HS Stud QB, Connor Mitch, who earned the initial starting job last year, but was injured the 1st game and missed the rest of the season. Then we had a backup walkon QB take over and our QB play was the worst it's been in 7 years. We have another HS Stud true Fr, Brandon McIlwain, as an EE, and he looked great in the spring game, but he's unproven. We'll see him play this season though.

RB is a big question for us this year. David Williams was slated to start this, but a poor 2015 campaign and an abysmal spring game make his future questionable. Our depth at the position is all RS Fr or true Fr. However, Parade All American, true Fr Rico Dowdle, will probably come in and turn some heads. He's very fast and elusive for his size. It will all depend on how quickly he can learn the playbook.

Our WR corp lost our All American/All SEC WR, Pharoh Cooper, but we've produce many of those types over the past 10 years. We are very young at WR, we had some upperclassmen transfer this year, but none of them were major contributors anyways. Again we'll be looking to true Fr, like Bryan Edwards, to step up, but he was a EE and had 2 TD's in the spring game, so he seems to be on track.

DB is the weakest link on the team right now. However, we have the #1 JUCO CB, JaMarcus King, coming in May and we might have former gator, JC Jackson on the way as well. If that happens, we'll field a much better group of DB's and our team will exceed expectations.

That sounds like relying on a TON of true and red shirt freshman. This is a brutal league to have to do that in. Reminds me of Tennessee in 2014.

Based off of who we have returning and the results they got last year, I can't say I'm shocked or surprised by this.

Come on up to Knoxville and enjoy the beatdown your guys will put on our losers - you're right...we suck, especially those 2 incompetents!

Bad news is we are relying on a lot of unproven talent/freshman at the skill positions. Good news is that we should actually have a solid O-line, which is where it all starts.

On D the front 7 looks good too. Secondary hasn't looked all that great in the spring, but King and (hopefully) Jackson will help out there. I'm also interested to see how our D performs with competent assistant coaches that know what the hell they are doing.

I really think we'll finish with 3 (maybe 4) wins.

@ Vanderbilt - Loss
@ Miss. State - Loss
ECU - Loss
@ Kentucky - Loss
Texas A&M - Loss
Georgia - Loss
UMASS - Win
Tennessee - Loss
Missouri - Win
@ Florida - Loss
Western Carolina - Win
@ Clemson - Loss

When your previous staff basically gives up on recruiting for 2 years, this is the result.

No South Carolina fan expects us to lead any major category on O or D in 2016. We're pulling in some great talent that could be very solid in a few years, but I'm anticipating another long season this Fall.
