IMO- hottest seats ranking

1. Pittman, Freeze, Venables, Napier

There’s really no differentiating whose seat is hotter. All would get fired with 5 wins or fewer in 2025. A 6-6 season would be really dicey for Freeze, Napier and/or Venables. Pittman would probably survive 6-6 due to lower fan expectations.

5. Stoops

I put Stoops at 5 because a 5-7 finish would probably keep him his job. With Louisville expected to be around Top 25 level, he’d have 2 decent wins under his belt and that might save him at Kentucky.

6. Kelly, DeBooer

I think these guys are next just because I think the jury is still out with the vast majority of the fan base. A disaster of a season… like 5-7 or 6-6 would sure turns fans against him. Enough to get fired? Doubtful but you never know. Both need to go 10-2 or better to keep the fans happy. Missing the playoff will keep fans questioning. A .500 record or worse would shoot their hot seat ranking up to #1

8. State’s coach

I don’t know his name, but I know things are bad at MSU and expectations are low.

9. Beamer, Drinkwitz, Elko, Freeze, Lea, Heupel

None of these guys are feeling heat, but one really bad seasons could turn the burner on.

15. Sarkisian

He could probably endure a losing season and still not have too hot of a seat. After 15-18 years of mediocrity, TX fans know they have their best coach they’ve had in a long time. It would take a lot to get him fired at this point.

16. Kirby

Lifetime security. He could pull a Paterno/Bowden and drive UGA into mediocrity for a decade and still not get canned because of what he brought to them.

That record is amazing for Kentucky...thanks for that

You want a reminder?

You have 3 seasons with a winning season with him at a CFB school in the SEC. When you are terrible at a sport which beyond doubt Kentucky is(if you think otherwise it is crazy because Stoops made you f).

Just accept you are one of the best Basketball programs of all time, but a below.500 CFB team.

532-585-36
Sorry but you are not getting the Kirbys, Days, etc as a CFB.

I see your point, but in the age of NIL and the transfer portal, any program should be able to win with enough resources and the right coach.

Many folks would say the same thing about Auburn in basketball, but thank God Auburn didn’t think we should just accept being bad at basketball. Now Pearl has won an SEC title of some sort in 4 of the past 6 seasons and gone to two Final Fours.

In this era of sports, anything is possible.

Does Kentucky invest in NIL a ton compared to top tier programs in Football? I am sure they do in Basketball but not sure in Football.

All I know is before Stoops most of life Kentucky has been an easy win(I am 35).Now because of Stoops, it is not at all. He made Kentucky a tough game for most teams(besides Georgia, but to be fair many including us are easy for Smart).

you spend around 11 million in Nil

Georgia almost 19 million
LSU 20 million
Ohio State 22.2 mill
Texas the same as OSU.
Aggies 17.2

That is a ton more. Sucks but it is what it is now. You have to buy Championships now as well as have great coaching.

I think what he has done is amazing but his success has made fans want more.

I'd say Kelly's seat is cooler than Deboer's.

It's quite simple- LSU and Alabama are now accustomed to different spots. LSU used to demand annual national contenders, because they were at a spot where they DID contend annually, and had won several. Note: Les Miles came under heavy fire for 2011, a season where they went 12-0 regular season, and won the SEC Championship, and then played in the national championship game... and lost.
That's because they had won in 2003 and 2007, and many felt they COULD have won in 2005 and 2006 (11+ win seasons). And in addition, they also won the SEC and Sugar in 2001, and they went 11-2 in 2010.
So, technically 2011 was actually a better overall season than any of those, but they didn't produce in the bowl game; and fans raged.

LSU's now past that. There's the great 2019 season, and... what? 2012, 2013, and 2018 were 10-3. Those, outside of 2019, are the high points since 2011.

Kelly- 2023 and 2022- 10 win seasons, with an SEC Championship appearance, and a Heisman winner. He's matching the best in over a decade, other than 2019. His "off" year is 9 wins. Fans may grumble, but unless he dips under 8 wins he's safe.

Deboer is at Alabama, a different animal. Since 2008, they won at least 10 every season until last year. Remove 2010 (an "off year" at 10-3), and they won at least 11 games every year; 14 games 4 times, 13 wins 4 times, 12 games 4 times. Hell, they won 13 games in 2020, a shortened season (10 games for SEC teams). Other than 2010, they hadn't lost 3 or more since 2007 (7-6), which was Saban's first year.

Deboer went 9-4. Objectively a good season, but in Alabama standards, the worst in a long time.

um..over .500 at Kentucky is beyond the normal..holy shite...he has the most wins ever..more then Bear Bryant....
and he has 12 wins over ranked opponents.

You will go back to an easy game on most SEC teams schedule when he leaves..like you have been most of your history.

What are the Leghumpers going to say if Alabama comes into Athens and beats Georgia once again??

Kirby Smart;s record Vs Bama is putrid and he'd be 0-2 vs De Boer.. Don't tell me the natives won't be restless.

I don't think losses to Bama will rile up the UGA base... most SEC programs kinda accept that, for better or worse.

If they start dropping games to Texas, I think heads will explode

Remember Kentucky is a terrible football program. Stoops made you feel good, now it is back down to reality. You are clearly a basketball school(Right there with Duke and UNC for the best).

But Footballl...just no.

Remind me when your last National or SEC title was in CFB again?

1976 google says was your last SEC title...you are not a blueblood in Football.

Florida Football wasn't consistently good until the 1990s. Why are you acting like you're Alabama and that a fanbase can't expect more from their program?

Using that logic, Florida should've just gave up on Men's Basketball after Billy Donovan.

Kentucky will then have to get most of the NIL to go from basketball to football to have a chance.

Meh, this sounds like a broken record, might as well turn it off. Sam has been on the hot seat since he was hired.
