I'm sure that's it.

All things have pretty much been equal for the past 40 years or so. But whatever

Byrne should have known nothing good would come of this game. Another example of MSU being obsessed with trying to make Ole Miss look bad instead of making good decisions for MSU.
Wait a second...you have a relative of Bill Byrne as your AD?

Because small states like Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama don't really have the population base (despite having the best recruits per capita) to support more than 1 or 2 relevant D-1 schools at a time. With their small populations (this being especially true in Mississippi), there are only so many recruits to go around.

Updated: From a popular question that keeps appearing, did Texas A&M leave their conference because of having to play in-state rival Texas every year?
Sure we did. We were so scared of playing Texas every year that we now play a team every year that made their entire program quit.

So you played OU in the cotton bowl last year, big whoop.

Even you're not this stupid. I was talking about the team they would have beaten "if Colt wasn't hurt"

You got me, my mind doesn't revolve around all things The University of Texas on a daily basis.

Neither does mine...but the subject of the Alabama/Texas National Title game is often brought into the rant by several others.

We will play any school in this state, anytime.
not according to TexAgs.
Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, and Houston have all been deemed unworthy of the home and home series they would request.
I imagine there are quite a few Ags here as well that would also get their panties in a wad if there was talk of home and homes with those schools.
Tech has openly mentioned restarting the series and it hasn't really gotten much of positive response from message board folk on the A&M side.
I'd love to play all of them again TBH. Having two or three games a year against old SWC schools would be sweet IMO. Hell, I wouldn't mind all four OOC games being against SWC schools even though I know that would never happen with the school (and to a lesser degree ESPN) wanting matchups that grow the brand in different regions.
(to be fair, I say frick Baylor so long as Ken Starr is there)

So what is the hold up on this then? I am sure plenty of those Texas schools would love to make A&M a permanent rival or at least switch home series.

And perhaps the only thing worse than running away from a rival is trying and failing to do the same.
