I saw a picture of McElroy and another player signing autographs wearing T-Town Menswear shirts in front of National Championship banners. The banner had a date on it of "January 22th", (really, it said 22th), but I couldn't read the year. Question...did they have a Championship signing party right after Auburn won the NC, or was this from a year ago? Because if it was a year ago, McElroy was still eligible and wearing ads for the guy and signing autographs for him. Anybody have any insight?

I agree. There are some things that are just not policeable.
But I think it's pretty obvious these guys had heavy incentive to be hanging out with this guy and signing shite that was sold.
To say otherwise is just being idealistic.
Like someone else just said, I'd be surprised with what we have if yall really get smacked. But all it takes is a bad whiff of something for the entire journalism world to come down to Tuscaloosa.

3. If so, does he have the means to purchase said suits from T-Town Menswear?
Hahahahahahaha
Do you watch television? Or listen to the radio? Good luck getting a straight answer on how much a suit costs. Men's Wearhouse, S&K, a Jos A Bank routinely run specials and sales where you can buy one suit and get 2 free. Buy a blazer and get half off on a pair of shoes. Not all these sales are advertised. That's how I have 12+ suits and jackets in my closet right now. None of them are great suits, but they look good and when I worked in an office I didn't have to worry about wearing the same suit over and over.
I'm just saying even if players got a "good deal" there's no way to prove the deal they got was out of the ordinary. So your line of questioning is pointless.

If anything, Bama folks have been pointing out how different the situations are. Don't be angry people aren't coming unglued over this.

quote:No doubt. Also, I don't think the OSU thing would have been a big deal without the cover up. It may have been labeled a major violation, but the punishment would have been light if the school was proactive in dealing with it.
I'm of the opinion that as long as small store owners are fans of schools in all university towns, this kind of murky area will exist.
It remains to be seen how proactive Bama has been. They have certainly taken some steps, but I think I would feel better as a Bama fan if they had also sent their report to the SEC or NCAA before this surfaced in the media. It would certainly look better from the outside.

I guess it'd be impossible for me to get a 2009 poster signed by folks that are graduated now. It has to be done in the same year?

I just love how you bama fans have been instantly trying to compare it to the Cam situation and make it a non-issue, when nobody is saying that this is worse than Cam. It truly is just comical.
People were using Cam's drama as a reason to get this thread and make it an issue.

1. Suits range from on sale to and average suit. ($200.)
2. If I had to guess, I would say yes. Most of these players can't buy off the rack at JCPenney.
3. What people spend money on sometimes blows my mind. I have been by trailer parks and projects that have better cars than most.

I would say around the normal amount, like any place in the mall, etc..

2. Does TR actually wear suits from T-Town Menswear?
Yup, along with the rest of the team. And they don't just have one from there. Julio Jones has been spotted wearing around 9 different suits. There was a picture on here that proved that.

I highly doubt they could pay for that many suits, IMO.

I think what did OSU in was the fact that there were emails that Tressel knew about it. I think if they didn't exist, there wouldn't have been as much of an issue.
I don't really know how the Ga. Tech stuff was proved. I guess I could read up on it to be a better poster.

Honestly. I don't feel uncomfortable at all right now. Seeing Saban sit, Julio, Mark, Dareus, the textbook folks, because there could have been eligibility issues, makes me believe he'd have done the same if there was a chance Trent or anyone else could have a possible issue. Unless someone is sat as a result of more school investigation into this, I'm fine.

Do you AU fans think that Clay Travis was the first to get wind of this? He even said himself he was surprised someone else didn't break this story. I wonder why that is?
