The early series really hurt us against Kentucky, Ole Miss, and especially Georgia.

Would be awesome to get a sweep this weekend @ USC. if we can sweep and Florida loses 2/3 @ Kentucky, then we're only one game back. Arkansas also has a great chance at a sweep against State this weekend, which would put them in a tie for 1st if Florida doesn't win the series. Pretty tight race in the SEC whatever the case. There are 6 teams within 2 games of each other for the second best record and Florida has a somewhat comfortable lead by not insurmountable by a long shot.

it's tough to make hay in this baseball conference. Sweeps are mana from heaven.

totally agree but also very thankful we got Tennessee and USC bak-to-back when we were in need of some positive momentum going into the home stretch of the SEC schedule.

I heard Florida already printed the shirts.

I don't doubt this. LSU is hatd pressed to find 3 starters to pitch a series. Whenever neither Hess nor Hilliard start, we have issues.

LSU is 2-8 a way from the Box.

so are 99.5% of college baseball teams.

We're 5-5 in weekend games where neither Hilliard nor Hess starts. That is not atypical for your 3rd starter. Austin Ross, for instance, went 6-8 as our #3 starter in our last national championship season in 2009. A year like last year where you have 3 reliable weekend starters is not something that happens often for any program. Teams like Florida are the exception to even the upper crust of programs, not the norm.
Skip and Mainieri have both said that if you have two reliable starters that win most of their games then you will be right in the thick of things for SEC Titles. And we have that. The only years we haven;t had that since 2008 was in 2010 when Randaudo was hurt for much of the season and 2011 when we missed the tournament.
As to our road record, 4 of the 8 are in midweek games with 3 of those four being 1 run games and the other a 2 run loss. Then we lost 2 to Vandy and 2 to A&M, with the two to Vandy being 1 and 2 run losses.

How is it possible we’re still second in the West

Because we’ve spent the last two weekends putting the WAOM on full display. Really bad end of game baseball...

No. You didn't.
Which SEC school are you a fan of?

This is Florida you are talking about, not Tennessee.

One loss away from the box was a neutral site game, not counted as a road game

Tough series at State this weekend then Texass Tech at Baum for the last mid week series.
I would be more than happy to win the series vs State and split the Texass Tech 2 game midweek series.

That is why I said away from the Box and not road games.

Sorry about that, thought you were wanting me to change the record in the original post. Carry on sir

Oh no. I was just making the point that expecting a road sweep even vs a badish team in the SEC is pretty lofty for a team that hasn’t won 3 games away from home yet.
