LSU "may" have had a case if they had lost that second game in a close match at home to someone NOT named Tennessee, but that loss kills their hopes.
The committee doesn't seem to give a shite or they wouldn't have LSU at #6.
It's crazy that some of you think LSU isn't moving up a minimum of 2 spots if they beat #1.
The committee is literally showing y'all what's going to happen but y'all can't believe it.

And for purposes of all disclosure, no, I don't think LSU is an elite team. But they're in position to win the SEC, and doing that will earn them a shot at the big prize. That's GOT to be the committee's point of view, otherwise LSU would be around #10 or so.

LSU’s best win is against a 2 loss team

I hope LSU wins just to see the reaction when they stay behind UGA and UT, but we both know that's not happening, the argument will be made moot in the CCG.

LunaFreak,
I'm trying to let you down gently,
The only posters who think there is any chance of Tennessee getting in if LSU wins out are Vols fans. Luna thinks that if he repeats nonreality and "skullfricked" enough times, he will it into existence.

This is actually projection at its best, I have seen many fans from different schools (myself included) say this. However, the ONLY people on here (or anywhere else) I see that seem to believe that LSU has any chance at the playoffs over Tennessee are LSU fans.

LSU has two losses and one of them is to Tennessee.
Beating the team that beat the team that you lost to does not make you better than the team you lost to. EVER.

Lots of ifs, but if TCU, USC & Clemson win out, including conference championships, it’ll be tough to decide who gets in. Tennessee will definitely be out if all three of those wins out.

I am not a lsu fan. A win over #1 is worth a lot more than you admit.

that doesn't make you unbiased. beating Georgia this season does not make you a national champion unless the game is in January.

My opinion is based on precedent and understanding of the CFB playoff selection process. They really do care about late season quality wins and championships.

You must live under a rock.
USA Today:

Up to No. 6 after barely sneaking past Arkansas, the Tigers are the only two-loss team still in playoff contention and a genuine contender for the semifinals in Brian Kelly's first season.
The Spun:

With the way the Committee has set things up, it seems like LSU, Georgia, the Ohio State/Michigan winner and TCU would be the picks in the scenario RJ Young has laid out. No doubt that would anger some people, but it would make sense even though LSU is a two-loss team.
DawgNation:
quote:
While the Tigers have two losses on the season, LSU still has the opportunity to play its way into the College Football Playoff. Should Georgia and LSU keep winning — both teams will be favored to do so in their final regular season games — the SEC championship will double as a de-facto College Football Playoff quarterfinal.
247 Sports

Just as most of thought two weeks ago when LSU toppled Alabama, the Tigers can play their way into the final four by winning out as the selection committee's first two-loss team to make a semifinal appearance.
CBS Sports:

That possibility still exists for No. 6 LSU, which is seeking to become the first two-loss team to earn a CFP bid in the event's history.

I’m an Oklahoma fan who says LSU is a CFP team if they win out. Their resume will include wins over Alabama and Georgia. Their only conference loss was at the time to a Tennessee team that eventually went to #1. Their loss to Florida State was at the start of the season and due to a missed extra point.
Since the SEC is valued as being the most recognized conference champion, LSU wouldn’t be ignored, and rightfully so. Right now, LSU’s potential run is reminiscent of 2001 Colorado. They were #3 in the final BCS Standings with 2 losses; while one loss teams Oregon, Maryland, Illinois sat behind them. Colorado as a Big XII champion two-loss team narrowly missed the BCS title game by .05 to Nebraska team they just recently had blown out. Buffaloes had a better resume than several one loss teams behind them. That was computers then. These are people now. And the people could potentially see a similar scenario play out.

All this would be significant if LSU had not been mud-holed at home by Tennessee (a 1 loss team ahead of them in the rankings). Beating Georgia does not erase that. H2H matters, and the number of losses matters.
The good news is that the point is moot, LSU is not beating Georgia, but I actually hope they do just to prove the point.

By placing LSU at #6, the committee explicitly told you that they don't care nearly as much about all of that as you do.
