I think this is going to hit the higher standing academical schools more so than the bottom feeders.

Cal
UCLA
Stanford
Michigan
Ohio State
Wisconsin
Duke
Miami
Florida
Georiga
Georgia Tech
Texas
Texas A&M
Northwestern
Purdue
Notre Dame

I think this sort of thing happens at all schools but is an actual "need" at the more academically rigorous schools.

How I'm thinking. It won't be either of the Mississippi schools. Our entrance requirements are a joke and neither of our team GPA's are anything to write home about.

https://www.cnn.com/2015/01/22/us/unc-paper-classes-lawsuit/index.html

They named some Schools they're accusing of not educating athletes in this link above.

quote:

The lawsuit cites cases of alleged academic cheating at Syracuse, Berkeley, Michigan State University, University of Georgia, Auburn University, Florida State University, the University of Michigan and several other schools from Texas to Ohio, Kentucky to New Mexico.

Only 2 SEC UGA and Auburn.

I called FSU was going to be involved before this announcement.

The NCAA can't properly investigate 1 school these days. Will be interesting to see how bad they bungle a 20 school investigation.

That's irrelevent to the topic.

This entire "investigation" will take decades if it ever takes off.

Not under the NEW NCAA, I think the schools have asserted their power and the right people are in place to make sure that we all clearly understand what's important.

They're not suing any of these Universities. It's 2 students suing UNC. Just because they cite other cases doesn't mean they are going after other Universities.

Is this related in any way to the study CNN reported regarding admission requirements for athletes vs non-atheletes? If so, I can't say UGA being on the list is too surprising. In that study we voluntarily submitted data on the subject and basically admitted that some athletes had been admitted when a normal student with the same scores/grades would most likely not have been.

As mentioned several times already - every school does it, I'm sure, but it sucks that my school is not good at keeping it under wraps

I think you should change the title to reflect the link. It seems like this is a lawsuit to undercut the concept of scholarships to get paid.

The CNN link is not about an NCAA investigation, they are being sued.
