Sorry you are ignorant concerning the 1983 season gump.
In those days the AP and the coaches polls decided the champion.
If the barn hadn't shite the bed in the Sugar Bowl they probably would have won it.
Shoot, the coaches ranked you 3rd behind Nebraska

What happened to Alabama in 1977 was even worse.

No, you are the ignorant one if you try and argue AU did not deserve the national championship in 1983. Probably a waste to explain it to you. Being a gump and all...

Nah, 1983 was a bigger has job than 1966. Notre Dame and Michigan played a tougher schedule than bama and tied each other. A case can be made that either or both were better than bama that year.
In 1983, AU played what may be the toughest schedule in the history of college football and finished with the best record in college football. The other contenders played a schedule ranked in the 30s and 60s or 70s. They finished with the same record as AU but to compare the resumes is laughable.
Fun fact, the UGA team that AU dominated in Athens was 40-1-1 in their last 42 regular season games and undefeated when 1983 dismantled them. AU beat the teams that had combined for the last 12 consecutive SEC championships, both on the road to close out the 1983 season. Oh yeah in the game right before those two, AU beat a top 10 Maryland with boomer esiasen. And the game before that? Only a top 5 Florida team.
The biggest hose job in college history is 1983 AU.

I watched Texas beat au handily - in JHS - in 1983, then watched au squeak by Michigan in the Sugar Bowl while failing to reach the end zone. Miami or Nebraska would have beaten au by three touchdowns that year.

Lol. Not even worthy of a response.

Agreed - this thread is awesome. Since the OP Alabama has continued to rack up titles under the Chicken ranking system while the rest of the SEC looks on from a distance. You know it pains Chicken just a little to have to keep updating Alabama's number every other year.
Reactions like this are why this thread is the best troll on this site.
Alabama's still winning titles, and this thread still gets more bites every year.

You didn't win it. I know you think they should have, but they didn't.
That's the only fact of relevance.

I know this is a sports board and we are all mostly just screwing around, pushing each other’s buttons, but there are a dozen or so people I’m convinced are genuinely fricked-up in a clinical manner- Miami is one of them.
It would be interesting to see how much these e-tendencies permeate such posters’ everyday lives. He makes an indefensible statement (one-loss 1983 Auburn is the “biggest hose job ever in college footballs MNC race”). This fits in with his myopic, victim-colored world view in which Auburn’s accomplishments are exaggerated and anyone else’s are minimized. When his rationale is reasonably (and civilly) questioned, he falls back on his standard ad-hominin attacks which he feels masks his own ignorance and insecurities. When he’s called out on his ignorance, and he has no valid response, he claims he has better things to do, while he clearly continues to lurk on the thread. I think it’s relevant to note here that he obviously doesn’t have anything better to do. He has more than 43,000 posts and an embarrassingly large amount of those consist of emotional tirades about a single school he doesn’t like. It’s all so fascinating.

Bama fans look pathetic trying to deny that AU deserved the 1983 NC. You guys are so insecure, lol.
Probably due to inbreeding but I digress.

They didn't vote us the champs and that's ok.
We can't win it every year, would have been nice though

1983 Auburn would have been baby seal clubbed by Miami by about 3 TD’s. Maybe more. They do belong on the list of most overrated teams of all time though.

The people you think are being trolled, are loving this thread, I promise. So troll away. As long as this thread is getting “bites” then that’s a good thing for Bama.

Not to mention the voters bias where some of the #1’s and #2’s weren’t even legit to begin with.
Hope not Germans but wasn’t going to read the entire thread.

Clearly, the only solution is to eliminate polls.
Have all efforts placed into pre-season seeding of a 128 team, 7 round playoffs.
First round is single elimination.
Field of 64 and beyond are best of 3 series played with min of 1 week between games.
It's a great 19 week football season that starts first week of Aug.
Share profits across all tournament teams with tiered shares based on round in which their team was eliminated.
Obviously the best solution...
