It was easier to watch every bowl game when there wasn't 50 of them.

For me it’s not the quality or number of bowls, it’s that I don’t drink mass quantities of beer and plan gatherings around games like I did when I was younger.

Maybe the games seemed better back then too with a belly full of beer…….haha.

I do watch replays of games I miss now when nothing else is on.

Bowls need to go away now that there is an expanded playoff.

Nothing wrong with that Peach Bowl. Two P5 schools that had good years, a packed stadium, and two teams who wanted like hell to be there.

Didn’t watch any before some of the name teams started playing. Even then halfheatedly. Once SeC teams have been on deck though, it has been fun.

Bowl games were a nice treat when you had around 18 games (36 teams).
Now, finish 6-6 and go to a bowl attended by maybe 45,000 fans.

It used to be a reward for the teams who won 7-8 out of 11 regular season games. Now, be average and get a trophy.

OP, its hard to get crazy excited about sports when the US is literally in its last few years of existence. The world is fixing to change.

Why? The players are rewarded with a trip, the teams get an extra three weeks of practice at the end of the year under a low pressure situation, younger kids likely get there first action in a non-rent-a-win game, and I get to watch football on a Saturday. Unless you are a less than casual fan, what is wrong with any of that?

Problem with the lower tier bowls is the opt-outs which screws up betting. Can't get into these games unless I've got a little something riding on it.

Let’s fast forward to June or. July and see what folks are saying about watching any kind of during that dead sports period. It’s either too much or not enough.

Peach and Cotton have been good. A&M put in a credible performance given their roster. OU Arizona was entertaining. I’m enjoying the FSU tears right now

Why?

Because the transfer portal has resulted in teams having trouble filling out a competent roster in many cases. It’s just not good football. And these bowl games which are almost entirely meaningless now will become even more so with 12 teams in a playoff.

The only way to possibly save this might be to move all non-playoff bowls up to before Christmas and then let the transfer portal open on like Dec 26 or something. Even then I think motivation is going to be difficult to come by.
