Interesting. If true all the people in this thread treating this guy as a victim will have some major backtracking to do.

We know that families never meddle in recruiting in order to try to get their share. No, that could never happen.

Regardless of the truth, this is absolute rat poison for UNLV and Odom. It will be used to negatively recruit against them. What bigger school will want a coach that has a reputation for short changing players (He already has the rep of a subpar recruiter)?

What god awful, desperate, pathetic school would hire such a coach after a shite show like this!?

If this is true, then I stand corrected. The player is a POS.

But I don't know how we confirm this story.

Except the sources saying that the guy demanded more money and UNLV said no. Now he is going to take his ball and go home. We already saw it with Quinshon Judkins at Ole Miss, which makes it strange that an Ole Miss fan can’t even consider this possibility.

But in conclusion, you don’t know anything more than the rest of us here. Got it.

Not in the middle of a season. This absolutely reeks of entitlement.

Like I said, college football is a business now. I hate to see it as much as anyone else... But it seems the university and the donors did not fulfill their agreed upon payments to the kid.

It's a business. If they kid isn't getting paid, he should xfer, and being after 3 games, or 8 games.. doesn't matter.

You ever wonder how coaches coach at about every college in the SEC and pretend how each one is "the best and the most special place in the country" bullshite...

Players are like the coaches now. It's a job stop for them too now. Maybe it's always been that way really.

Go read my edit. If he was paid in full the kid is a POS. But I don't know how either side of the story gets proven.

This is why there are contracts. Binding both sides to the agreement. If you look at the post above, all NIL commitments to this kid were fulfilled and yet he thinks he's worth more.

I read the tweet as the kid was offered a set amount of money, and the NIL fund is shorting him money.

Edit: I see some info on here now that the kid was asking for more money. If that's the case, then yeah, the kid sucks. But do think about this...

Say you're a 4* QB and you get offered $100,000 your freshman year to attend Iowa St or something. You go ball out and actually make the Heisman list and all that.. 28TDs/3INTs 2600 yards passing.... just great stats.

Now since we're looking for a QB and Freeze likes this guy.. .we offer him $900,000. What should the kid do?

quote:

So if this kid were to go out and have a Hank Brown type day, can the NIL collective asks for it's money back? There's has got to be some kind of oversight because it's a one way street right now.

I'm all for that actually. Coaches get fired. So should players.

Well, players have always been fired in the past.. they just call it something else.

Another step that had to happen for the players to inevitably become considered employees. Makes a lot of sense for a QB that doesn't have an NFL future. Get paid the maximum now. Someone desperate enough will grab him in the portal.

No, we probably won’t ever know exactly what happened. Again, the truth is usually in the middle.

It was bizarre to watch so many people white knighting for a guy that may be the villain in this. Some still are. All based on one unconfirmed and obviously biased tweet.

So, who do you people believe now?

You have the university saying one thing and the dad saying another...

Dad saying they're getting nothing in payments.

You people get so deadset on something with no idea what's going on.. ahh message boards..

My posts are getting downvoted. I'm using logic and reasoning.. the downvoter is just real emotional.

downvoted this one as I was editing.. Post a retort, have a conversation about it. Don't just downvote, speak.

Coaches have contracts, players don't. Scholarships and transfer limitations used to be some kind of restraint for players. Not anymore. Players have complete control, and that's not good for college football. Why do y'all think Saban got out?

I certainly believe the dad. We have already seen this before with a much bigger NIL collective and player with Florida and Rashada. No surprise that collectives are making promises they can't keep.

Yep. Massive red flag

I never said it was good. I said that's what the sport is now.

And what makes you think players don't get contracts? These players aren't dealing with the schools for their payments. NIL goes through NIL collectives. Not a dollar of NIL money goes through a school.
