Universities still begging fans for money

They are making more money now than they ever have been, but they still have their hand out to all the fans to donate for this and that. I'm fricking tired of it.
A Kentucky caller to the Stoops weekly radio show asked why Kentucky can't get over the hump, and Stoops' answer is fans need to donate more money.
Here's a video clip that sums it up really well.
The first 5 minutes is context, but if you want to get right to the meat of the rant, which I completely agree with, start at the 5:40 mark.
Uncle Lou Rant.. It's great. NSFW language

Watch the video. I'm not going to transcribe it all. That would be plagiarism and against the user agreement I signed when I joined this site.

Your title says "Universities"
FYI, Georgia ranks #1 in SEC in profitability at $156M
Kentucky ranks #12 at $38M

Not a big Uncle Lou fan, but this video should go viral. He is spot on in the financial lunacy of college athletics.

Let's just squeeze more money out of the average fan. Greedy assholes. Tough to even manage what we contribute now. We've talked about cutting back, not donating more.

I'm sorry you guys are just so dumb because fans giving and/or paying money is what caused sports to go like this in the first place.
college and pros.
So blame yourselves lol

College athletics is dead now. It's just another professional league now.
What is the ROI for these millionaire and billionaire doners?

Nothing Stoops said is wrong per se, but the audience for the Monday night call in show is blue collar baws. These folks can't afford to kick in for NIL and all this other shite. You want donations you holler at the Joe Crafts of the world. The average Joe is tired of bring hassled for more and more money.

Who wants to keep kicking more money into a diminishing product. NIL has effectively ruined college athletics and I find myself less and less interested with each passing year.

For the Kentucky fans that are taking this personally, this video host applies this to all college football programs, including his own homer team, it was the sToops interview that sparked the rant. But the rant is universal.

CFB, the only sport where you have to bribe a kid to come to your school and then pretend like he cares about your school.

I'll give zero dollars. If they can't budget their intake from ticket sales, apparel, vendors, and TV + student athletic fees, frick them.

I'm the opposite. I like the dynamic. It creates a lot more uncertainty that coaches need to manage. The parity is clear and makes for better football.

Schools overall are losing money like crazy on athletics; only ESPN and the other networks are making money.
Expect this behavior to carry on.
Expect this behavior to carry on.

Then they have 38M more to buy players with if they are not spending the money they have then they have no right to complain.
And Mark Stoops is making 9 million a year why in the hell would he ask someone who is making 100,000 a year or less to give more money.

That is exactly right. I don't think his pitch was ever going to land because his audience is blue collared and can spot excuses a mile away. It also followed a loss in which Kentucky performed pretty miserably in comparison to some of their peers putting Georgia on the ropes. Finding the best opportunity to strike while the stove is hot is the appropriate time.
Now he just looks like he is devoid of reality down home, and he actually makes Cal look more personable. Cal is putting a miner on the center stage. CMS is blaming him.
