UK will keep Stoops because he equals Mac Jones

Stoops coaching pedigree is the exact same as Mac Jones football pedigree. They both have a really high floor but not as flashy of a ceiling. A coaching hire or a draft pick is only as good as the fans perceive it. These programs fans of LSU, USC or Penn State will be just as pissed off as the fans of the Bears, Jets or 49ers would have been if they drafted Mac Jones. It’s known that Kyle Shanahan wanted Mac but the fanbase and hierarchy (John Lynch) of the 49ers stopped it. Whereas in reality, they all should’ve drafted Mac. Thankfully for Kentucky, these power programs fanbases and administrators won’t be smart enough to figure that if Mark Stoops threatens 11-1 at Kentucky, what could he do at their program?? That equals a bright future fir Kentucky Wildcat Football!

There aren't many jobs stoops would leave UK for.

Close, but not quite. I wonder how many people will call me an idiot for this take? LOL!! It just came across my mind out of the blue.

If a big enough program comes calling with enough money, Stoops will bounce. Kentucky going 11-1 this year will only ensure his departure from the school.

I mean, one of them had arguably the greatest season by a QB in the history of the sport, but yeah, not that high a ceiling. True.

I actually agree. I just wonder if he could recruit at the level required at an LSU, USC, FSU type program.

But what jobs would Stoops really want to take over Kentucky? Alabama? Maybe, but Bama isn’t looking for a coach. Iowa, his alma mater? Maybe Iowa holds some sentimental value for Stoops. Otherwise, perhaps Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State hold appeal, but none of these schools are looking for a coach, and even if they were, why does Stoops jump into a pressure cooker for no more money than UK will pay? He can do what he’s doing now at Kentucky until he retires and the fan base will be thrilled. I say the odds he leaves are very low

I'm really confused by the unnecessary Mac Jones comparison

Yeah...me too.
Mac Jones was committed to Kentucky and then flipped to Alabama OP. This is a pretty shitty analogy if we're being frank.

Why would anyone be upset over UK keeping Stoops? He's done a fantastic job.
Weird melt.

Yeah, if anything he's more like Burt Bacharach.

I was waiting for the words "white" and "pastey" but never got them.

I'm not so sure about that. He has more job security than any coach in the country not named Nick Saban.
Here are the top 15 salaries, according to coacheshotseat.com:
1. Saban, $12M
2. Dabo, $10M
3. Orgeron, LSU, $8.5M ( )
4-7. Franklin, Smart, Day, Jimbo $8M
8-9. BKelly, Mullen $7.5M
10. Shaw $7.25M
11-13. Brohm, Sark, Riley $7M
14. Fitzgerald $6.5M
Seven tied at 15 at $6M, including Stoops, Harsin, CKelly, and Harbaugh.
Is he leaving Kentucky for an extra mil? No, because Kentucky will offer him at least that to stay. So now you're in the $8M salary range and none of those guys is going anywhere anytime soon, other than Orgeron.
Yeah, I guess Florida might fire Mullen in the next couple of years if the Gators continue to underperform. Are they gonna offer Stoops $9M and make him the third highest-paid coach in the country? What would a school like Florida have to offer him? I don't think he leaves a job where he can stay forever to go to Florida for an extra $2M.
The only really big money school below him is USC. And USC would have to offer him much more than 8 or 9 mil because of the huge difference in cost of living. According to cost of living comparisons...
Overall index...homeowner, no child care, taxes not considered: LA 196.2, Lexington 90.5
Median home price: LA $883K, Lexington $238K
Transportation: LA 165, Lexington 87
A salary of $56,500 in Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky should increase to $116,033 in Los Angeles, California (assumptions include Homeowner, no Child Care, and Taxes are not considered.)

Now add in the taxes.
USC would have to pay him $10,000,000 to make the move worth it financially.
