It is like a Cal State-Fullerton fan saying: "I don't even like baseball"...

Not really. Like I said, there are plenty of Kentucky fans that prefer football.

When the Basketball schedule showed we were playing only once I mentioned that the UT-UK rivalry was always linked to BOTH football and basketball outcomes. It's the only team we play where this is the case. Without the basketball series the rivalry falls apart. Personally, I'm saddened because the UT-UK series is more of an in-state rivalry to me than Vandy.
As a fan of that series, this blows.

I was really disappointed with the ending of the basketball series too. While neither of our teams are in the same stratosphere of success as UK, the VU-UK and UT-UK games are usually some of the best games of the year. Plus, the fans really get up for it.

Well, the UK and Mizzou games are the only ones our fan base has really cared about (played Mizzou plenty OOC), we get home and homes with both this year. The rest of the teams have kinda been meh for basketball fans. I guess LSU would be 3rd, Florida 4th if I had to rank them because both are usually good.

Agreed. I also really like that we're playing other in-state teams in basketball - it's really helping all the teams and elevating others, imo.

It's so funny hearing people on this board give their perceptions of UK fans.
I live in Lexington, and all anyone has been talking about since the spring is FOOTBALL. Rarely and I mean rarely is there any basketball discussion going on right now.
Everyday that I go into work, it's recruiting talk, or talk about camp, and the QB job, and what not.
Not some basketball shite. Don't be mistaken. Kentuckians love KENTUCKY, and of course I'm not naive and understand basketball is number one.
However a HUGE portion of UK fans love UK Football just as much if not more. We stopped going to games last year because that is what it took to get rid of Joker Phillips.
Now that we have someone who has brought energy and life to the program, you will see that reflected in the fan base.

For the record, I consider Uk to be Vandy's second biggest football rival. Honestly, as far as competitiveness goes it is probably our first. We usually have similarly placed programs and the late season game is important for bowl eligibility.
That probably does little to change your perception as a basketball first school with the rest of the SEC, but it is something. I'm sorry to see the game move out of November.
Sorry Ole Miss. Love that annual game too.

Aside from last season we've had better attendance numbers than some schools who are supposed to be "football schools" and regularly in the Top 25. Herp derp.
As for the OP, I like it. It'll feel weird because we've typically ended with Tennessee but as pointed out I like it being the big rivalry weekend.

So, do you think this marks U of L's rise as a legitimate BCS team, or has the UT rivalry lost its luster over the last few decades?
As an aside, did y'all care about losing yearly home and homes with UT and VU in bball, or are you more focused on NC, Duke, and Indiana?

I don't think the UT rivalry has lost it's luster. I'm pissed we're not traveling to Knoxville for BB for the first time in over half a century. I've just always thought big in-state rivalries should be that last weekend. And with bowl eligibility potentially on the line for the next few years it'll be huge IMO.
As far as UofL, until they can show they can make it to a BCS game in a conference better than the Big East the jury is still out.
And we always care about losing in basketball. UNC is a big rivalry game for us so it's usually pretty big but conference games are conference games IMO.

I hope they keep North Carolina because it is like the only team in college basketball with a winning record against Kentucky

I personally hope they bring back the game against Indiana soon. If only Crean would get his panties out of a wad.
On the football side I think it has more to do with U of L's move to the ACC than their rise itself.
And Belle how am I doing on my access to the UK board?

I put your name out there (we have a thread for feedback) and no objections yet. Give a day or two just to make sure everyone has seen and you'll probably be okay. I vouched for you as a UK BB fan.

Bama football fan and Uk bball fan? Frontrunner much? Also a Yankees and Lakers fan by any chance? Sorry, I don't usually get pissy, I'm sure you have a decent reason why.

My mom went to Kentucky and I grew up a huge Kentucky basketball fan and I will be receiving my degree from Alabama this December.
Trust me my UK fanhood survived through the late Tubby years and the Billy Gillespie years

If it is a football game between the 2 I am all Bama, but in basketball I am the opposite
