I don't think there is any way that you make a believable argument that UGAs schedule is difficult... much less as difficult as ALs.

Texas seems to be the outlier. At least so far this season.
And you lost to the outlier. LSU may prove to be very good, or they could still end up losing 4 games.

Tell us who Alabama plays that is so much better than our schedule other than the team that beat you.

Right now...at this point...Missouri looks to be as good as LSU. I guess the tipping point is the team that beat you.

You asked a hypothetical and I answered it. There is USUALLY a reason a team is #26 and not #20. This year there isn't. But hey, congratulations on the gargantuan strength of schedule bump you will achieve this weekend with the demanding almost ranked team you will be facing.

On paper it's not far off.

As I said, I believe UF's results are fool's gold, but right now both team's best wins aren't all that awe inspiring (Tennessee for UF vs Mizzou for LSU). Neither has a second win of note (Auburn for LSU? South Carolina for UF?).

If both lose their next game (UF to UGA, LSU to Bama), neither will be ranked. Rightfully so.

Why? They got beat by 2 of the 3 good teams they have played this year. (Ole Miss and FSU) They did beat a good Missouri team in a fairly close game, but then you want to belittle Georgia's schedule while we play Missouri, too.

You guys need to make up your mind. Is Missouri good or, no?
Florida dominated Tennessee. So, in your mind is Tennessee as good or worse than Missouri? Because that is the difference in their wins/losses.

Who lost by 10 at home to LSU, were out scored 32-14 in the second half and 22-7 in the fourth quarter. That's like saying Tennessee is as good as Bama.

Eh. Is it wrong that I think Bama would only win 6 out of 10 at a neutral site?

We play two of those teams and Alabama lost to the third.

There is a reason this clown thread has over 20 downvotes. I've never seen a team try so hard to justify their strength of schedule. Anyone can pull specific numbers to justify a point - i.e., Jalen Milroe's passer rating.

Lets's all pull up a chair and cheer on GA through this incredible gauntlet!

We would beat them 80 percent of the time on a neutral field.

Imagine falling down 20-7 to Joe Milton at home lmfao.

Sounds good to me.

The reality is that if UGA wins the national title this year, when we look back on their schedule it will end up being the toughest of any team in college football this year.

Not because of the regular season, but because the playoff will mean two wins over top 5 opponents. That's the great thing about the playoff, whoever wins ends up earning it. Pretenders who get in due to weak schedules get bounced.

Meh. I don't think Bama is awesome, but I feel the same about UT. It's a coinflip at best, but I'd still give Bama an edge because while I think Milroe is not a plus or a minus, Milton is a negative for UT.

Bama was able to shut down UT's running backs and that's not something that would be different if it were at home or at a neutral site. Bama was -1 in the turnover margin too.

Heck, the more I look at this now, I'm starting to think Bama winning 6 out of 10 is a bit unfair to Bama. I'll switch to 7 out of 10.

I won't disagree with this...

The playoffs guarantee a small amount of equity in SOS. My only point was that we don't need to be justifying the regular season SOS so vehemently. The playoffs will expose it one way or another (ala TCU last year).

I mean there are countless examples of teams playing twice and losing one and winning one. One such example is 2011 LSU and Alabama. Alabama blew you away the second game.

If only football were stagnant. But. It isn't.

LSU is ranked #15 and Missouri is ranked #16. Doesn't seem like much of a difference.

My only issue with strength of schedule wonks is that I feel like the number overall is kind of meaningless. What should matter are the number of opponents played who can put a scare in a nationally relevant team.

For example, if you play #75 and another team plays #150... a team in competition for a national title isn't going to lose to either. Sure, it matters to Sagarin because his formula is based on finding advantageous point spreads in gambling, so those kind of differences matter. But Bama or UGA won't be losing to either of those teams, so in terms of how tested a team are, there is no difference.

There is some point where teams become difficult enough opponents where the differences in quality start to matter. But I'm guessing that there are usually less than 50 teams that don't qualify as auto-wins for national title contenders each season. SOS metrics treat a 3 point gambling difference for teams in the 150-200 range the same as a 3 point different for teams from 50 to 1. That's just not reality.

You can prove Alabama is better than Georgia by beating us in the SECCG.

Until then we are better than you and you are just a bunch of wannabes.

Vegas disagrees.

LSU was favored by 5.5 at Missouri.

Since 3 points is generally given to the home team, LSU would have likely been favored by 8.5 on a neutral field and by 11.5 at home.

The way LSU’s offense is clicking and the team having played somewhat better on defense the last few weeks, there is no reason to believe the point spread would not be the same or higher.
