Smart is a new HC. I would have to bet that one of the other two teams will win the east even tho UGA is probably the most talented.
I think Tennessee probably has more talent in addition to experience than Georgia.

You think UF's floor is 3 losses? I mean, I expect y'all to win 9 games but is not inconceivable to think Arkansas, UGA, and/or some other school can beat y'all.

I agree, if TN loses @UGA, I think we have to go 7-1 to win the East.
UNLESS UGA gets tripped up in those two early tricky away games @Mizzou and @USC.
Missou will just be early and be an ugly game I bet. They have a nasty DL so they could rattle Eason. But can they score enough to win?
@SC could be tricky IF UGA is coming off a W vs. TN.
Y'all could think you have it made till UF and get caught sleep walking in Williams Brice which hasn't been fun for you all in a long time at that venue.
People act like the East is so cut and dry but there are A LOT of intriguing games.
Even the Ole Miss-UGA, LSU-UF and Bama-TN games aren't 100% cut and dry either, I think the East COULD pull some upsets there this year.

I feel like as fans we think of the season in individual games and not as a flow.
Taking that one game out of the season I don't think UGA would lose either, but when you look at it in the flow of the season I could see it, especially with a 1st time coach and a freshman QB.
UGA will be coming off @Ole Miss and TN at home which will be their two biggest games of the year until UF.
If they get through that stretch with a W against UT they'll be told how they have the East locked up if they can just beat UF. Then you'll have Muschamp sitting at home just waiting to pull the upset.
Unlike TN, who very easily could lose 3 or 4 games due to our stretch against 4 very good to solid teams, UF and UGA aren't good enough where they couldn't slip up against the lower East teams. The good news for UF is they have UK, USC and Missouri at home so they really only have 1 big chance for a slip up and that's @ Vandy where they have like 5 fans.
Long story short is this seasons is just not cut and dry like the media is wanting to paint it out to be. It is going to be fun and there will be a lot of twists and turns IMO and I think we get to November and the East race will not be decided yet.

Well, Tennessee beat Carolina by three points at home last year. People forget that Carolina lost a fumble inside the Tennessee twenty with under a minute to play. Just saying ....

On paper this is not a great Georgia team
Maybe not great but good enough to win the east. We've put together 3 very good AND balanced recruiting classes and kept them in school for the most part.I'll take our top to bottom roster over any SECE team except UT.
UF was FAR from a great team last year and we all saw how they were exposed by UM.

Georgia has no chance at the east title with a true freshman QB.
What if the true fresh qb is the best qb in the east?

UT is the team to beat
UGA is the wild card
And I'm not saying that to be a homer, I'm saying it because it's true. Butch has no excuse this year.

So, no more "rebuilding" in Knoxville? You'd think G-DOT was over that project.

I didn't forget. TN dominated the 1st QTR and then went to sleep and Carolina to their credit didn't give up and made it one hell of a game.
TN HOPEFULLY being a year more experienced and mature won't go to sleep anymore against teams they are clearly better than and start blowing more teams out this fall.

A worrying and frustrating trend from last year. It's yet to be seen whether that was an inexperience thing or a habitual thing with Butch and/or the team. Could be back in full force or (hopefully) completely gone this year.

No we are pretty much built now and we will just reload each year and should be in the East hunt year in and year out for the foreseeable future barring a major change.

I think early in the year it was a strategic mistake and a by product of Butch and Debord not fully trusting the offense yet and him having a bit too much faith in the D.
In the game at SC I think it was a different beast and more of just us getting a lead then playing down to the competition which happens every once in a while.
This year I think our D will be improved and we actually WILL be able to trust them once we have leads AND Butch and Debord will be slightly less conservatives with leads to hopefully extend them and not get completely vanilla. I only say slightly because I fear that a lot of that is just who they are and it may be something we have to get used to. But good news is I do think, like I said that our D will be able to handle that style this year just fine.

I think Dobbs has to get the nod there. However, I could see a scenario where Eason is second best.

I think we all agree on that point. Tennessee has to be the favorite to win the East this year. With things falling just right and everything falling into place we could give you a run for your money. (And I never count Florida out of anything, either)
