Jake Del Rio was a transfer and HAD to sit out last or he would have played.

No, he would have been behind Grier. He might have played once Grier was suspended. And he transferred from Alabama to Oregon State to Florida. It's not like he was a world beater that was beating out all the competition where he was. But, yes. he will probably be better than Treon.

We also have Appleby the senior QB from Purdue and although his stats are not eye popping because of picks....you have to consider the help he had around him wasnt overwhelming.

You also have to consider the competition he was playing against. that wasn't eye popping, either.

It can get ugly. You are right. but it isn't like Del Rio has a lot of game experience. He has very little and none inside the SEC, so let's not pretend Florida is coming in with a seasoned alternative.

Are you saying the east d's are a bunch of sharks? If so, the same can be said of the other new sec east qbs like uf's.

I can't find the source but I recently saw a good article that presented statistics that effectively debunked the myth that you can't win with a true freshman quarterback.

In recent years true freshman quarterbacks have out performed veterans.

Ranked 7th in the country last year and 1st in pass defense.
We don't lack for talent in LB corp and D line will be thin
but will have good front line talent. They were flat worn out at times last year because they spent so much time on field
thanks to our shitty offense.I expect Chubb's return will change that scenario completely.

Our d may not have been "that" good but it was at least considered good.

"Gutted" might not be the right word for our front 7. "Young and talented" is more appropriate.

Which teams are gonna run us over?

Did Lambert and Ramsey miss the UF game last year because of injury ?

Nope. Richt just thought he was gonna outsmart uf by starting our worst qb.

No. They were ineffectual. Richt tried to jump start the offense by giving Bauta a chance. he had done well at practice and during the spring, but had never really had the wow factor.

A LOT of UGA fans will moan and wail that it was a huge mistake. (In retrospect, it was) However, there were several posters on our board that was happy that he was given a chance to see what he could do. Our backups would be shaky, at best, but so are most other backups. (Treon, for instance) I honestly think our best chance to win is with Eason. He will have growing pains, but he easily has the highest ceiling, and, if he develops and plays average, we would be ahead of what we had last year.

Wasn't that good last year? Allowed less than 20 ppg.

He'll be gone in 3 regardless. Might as well get him reps.

UF for one ran over UGA the past two years and expect more of the same. We rang up 418 yds rushing in 2014 when we werent that good...I already know the dawg response will be a new DC...how many tackles did he make last year?

I just think UGA is a year away from being better on offense and maybe defense. I know that Smart is after a lot of def recruits and y'all probably get a nice haul. We just got 3 new def recruits to committ and need more...dont wanna see the scales tip to the offense too much.

One thing I should add is that we done got us a real FG kicker now in Fast Eddie who can boom them...we did good combing the JUCO ranks and got us also a really good # 1 rated RB, a top 8 WR and lets see how the season shakes out. Our DL & DBs are ranked # 2 AND # 1 in Lindys SEC preseason rankings....must mean something?

They'll be weak on both LOS (by SEC standards) this year. Also, Chubb is coming off an injury and they don't really have a WR that scares a defense.

It's gonna be tough this year, but with the way Smart is recruiting, they'll be back pretty quick.

Not many of our opponents will be strong in both LOS by the same standards. Chubb + Michel could be he top rb duo in the sec. We have plenty of receiving options that could present a problem with a good passer.
