And this isn't some troll job as I don't keep up with UGA basketball and really am wondering what happened to make damn near the whole team leave?

It’s obviously the coach.

Probably mad they aren’t getting paid as much as the football players

Wheeler is supposedly transferring to UK. Not sure how I feel about it. I didn't watch a ton of basketball this past season. For obvious reasons. (HINT: We were fricking rancid.) Hopefully Wheeler can be an asset, after the Askew debacle.

I know things are different for everyone now with the portal and I'm sure UGA will pick up some from the portal to fill spots. But I have to ask why so many?

Put yourself in their shoes, would you want to continue to play for a team in that state, a state that is passing voter suppression laws that are clearly racist? A state where white people are basically gunning down and killing black people in the streets?

For the record I'm white, but I know a lot of diverse people in the Atlanta area and they are really hurting right now. It's more profound than you think and it's going to have an affect on Georgia sports.

Not sure if serious. I assume not.

Why not simply follow their football model, and pay talent at a level that they can’t say no? If it works for them in football, and their admin is OK with the approach, why not do the same in roundball recruiting?

Oh shut the frick up. It’s all because Crean is an a-hole to his players and staff. Nothing more, nothing less.

That’s the most in the SEC, but not markedly more. Between players in the transfer portal and those considering professional options -- such as Garcia and Johnson, Wheeler also is working out for pro teams – the league has seen a total of 102 players leave their respective teams. That’s an average of 5.4 player per team in the portal and 7.3 overall leaving each conference team.

This will be the norm and I personally hate it. Even the NBA does not have this level of free agency.

Never got why a fired coach from Indiana,
with a barely-above .500 record,
was hired in the first place---now after
three years of mediocrity at UGA and facing
a new season of lost hope, you walk
around that big elephant in the room
again ?

They wanted a big name hire. Thought they had Matta but he backed out towards the end and they shifted towards Crean in hopes he could bring in some better players.
