UGA is not a top ten program. I would say that UT, UGA, Aub, and LSU are in that 11- 20 range along with FSU, Miami, UCLA (maybe), Iowa, Virginia Tech. You could put LSU in the top ten and move Florida out.

They may be one of the ten best in the past decade but not all time.

I would say top ten would be USC, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, tOSU, Nebraska, Penn State, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Florida.

I would say that ND and Michigan are moving down as the years go by,

UGA is right alongside Auburn.. If Auburn wins Jan 10, Auburn is just a step above UGA.

it's the other way around. it seems many UGA fans accept mediocrity when they really shouldn't.

Exactly. The whole athletic department (by that I mean the two sports that matter, football and basketball) don't seem to have high enough standards. Georgia's a gold mine as far as instate talent goes, both for basketball and football. They have all the resources you could want. They should expect around ten wins a season in football and there's no reason why Fox shouldn't be able to build a very good basketball program.

Georgia will really benefit from the Pearl situation in basketball. Over the past 2-3 years Tennessee has had an Atlanta Celtic pipleline. It's netted us four 4 stars from GA over the past 4 years with a fifth on the way next year.

Getting a kid like Caldwell is a good start for UGA.

Tennessee was in the driver's seat with two more Atlanta Celtics for 2012 in Jordan Adams and Tony Parker this fall before the investigation, but I don't think we'll be able to get them now.

UGA is an underachieving program both right now and historically. Much like LSU until the last 7 years. They have everything in place to be a perennial national contender but they have only even won the SEC twice in the 30 years. If they ever get the right guy in there they have all world potential. Much like what Spurrier brought out at Florida and saban at LSU.

Listening to 680 in Atlanta and one thing is obvious, UGA fans calling in complaining about Mark Richt 'underachieving' have a false sense of identity. They seem to think UGA is a perennial national power that should win 10 to 11 games a year. UGA is a very good program but they are not and never have been in the upper echelon of college football.

UGA is a better program than Auburn.

If so it's not by much. If we win Monday we will have more national titles than they do, three unbeaten seasons since their last one, more SEC titles in the last 30 years, a winning head to head record vs. them, more Heismans. Two very even programs.

The UGA athletic program is the most underachieving program in the nation.

There's no reason they shouldn't be top a 10 program in baseball, basketball, and football.

The state turns out a ton talent in the big three and really UGA doesn't have anyone to compete with them unless you want to count GT in baseball.

They do have an identity problem, but I think it is that they expect too little of their program, not too much. UGA has everything needed to be a power program, but years of underachieving have conditioned them to act like Clemson fans instead of Alabama, LSU or Florida fans.

Two years ago I read an article on CFN asking high school kids which college teams were associated with which images and outside of the southeast the majority could not identify UGA when they were shown the G, most said they thought it was GreenBay

And both 680 and 790 will never outgrow Atlanta and become more regional or even national so long as they keep blowing UGA about how great they are. (gymnastics aside)

Dude you left out the most important part, ZERO sniffs at the BCSC and in that time LSU has won 2, Florida has won 2, Alabama has won 1, Tennessee even has one (pre) and Auburn is getting a chance to get one.

If UGA is a top 10 program then LSU UF AU UA UT are all log jammed tied for top 1 program

And yet, whenever I wore my Georgia "G" gear out in Texas up in Michigan, Washington DC, and New hampshire, and even over in Italy and England, no one didn't know exactly what it meant. At least everyone said, oh you're from Georgia.

I have no idea where UGA stands all time. I don't really care.
I will say that the last time UGA was playing for the national title was also probably the last time they bought a player-- much like AUburn right now.
