Y'all do realize a few things, right?

1) Jan Kemp was the whistleblower in that academic misconduct probe- not the athletic department stooge.

2)UGA actually self-reported this to the NCAA when it happened, after Bauerle did it when he was told he couldn't.

Basically, this is a legendary coach who thought he could throw his weight around, regardless of consequences. It was monumentally stupid because UGA wasn't going to win a men's SD title even with a great swimmer like Kalisz, and Bauerle wasn't going to feel any heat whatsoever about whatever showing the SD team ended up with this year because you know, it is swimming. Now, his arse is going to be fired. Never underestimate the arrogant stupidity of the collegiate coaching icon.

Shame we can't be as lilly white as Auburn, no?

Even if those things were ethnically questionable, they were still done. Roberts interviewed three former Auburn players who said that nine players' grades were changed before the Tigers' 2011 BCS National Championship game.

"We thought we would be without (running back) Mike Dyer because he said he was one of them, but Auburn found a way to make those dudes eligible," said former Auburn defensive lineman Mike Blanc.

Former Auburn safety Mike McNeil, who the school vanquished after his arrest on armed robbery charges in 2011, told Roberts in her report that his grade for a computer science class was an F. After informing a counselor within the athletic department, his grade was changed from an F to a C in a matter of days and he did not miss a game.

Auburn Suspends Professor Accused of Fixing Athletes' Academic Problems

Auburn University has suspended a sociology professor at the center of a controversy over snap courses and improper grade changes that were allegedly designed to help athletes remain eligible to play and to help athletes and other students graduate at rates far higher than their poor academic records would merit. According to today’s New York Times, which broke the news of the seemingly lax academic standards, the tenured sociology professor, Thomas Petee, has been suspended with pay over the grade-changing allegation.

Wow. talk about institutional corruption....seems to be a long history of it in Auburn.

Auburn's Dye Shruggs Off Charges Of Grade-fixing
August 6, 1988|By Jorge Rojas

Auburn Coach Pat Dye and one of his top assistants, Bud Casey, both denied claims of improper recruiting tactics made by a prep football star who signed with cross-state rival Alabama. The highly recruited player, offensive lineman Charlie Dare, allegedly was promised by Auburn that his grades and ACT test score would be high enough to meet NCAA standards and assure eligibility this fall.

Of course, Auburn denies it, so it must not be true. The rest of the world is out to get Auburn, because they are so good and truthful, right?

Dogsessed. When you have to pull from swimming you are really reaching, don't you think? I have nothing against Auburn, per se. However, if you look at the majority of posters jumping on Georgia, well...that tells a story.

UNC straight up invented classes and an entire major that did not require students to either attend class or submit anything close to college-level work.

They also had tutors take online tests and quizzes for athletes.

Bauerle has allegedly asked a teacher to give a student an incomplete for a class so that the student would meet the hours requirement needed to compete. Still wrong and he will likely lose his job for it (big no-no for coaches to interfere in academics in any way), but it's nowhere close to what UNC has been doing.

An incomplete is considered a passing grade at UGA???

Maybe so. I don't feel offended...unless it is being offended by one schools blatant hypocrisy towards another. hey, I know they were pulling our chain. I just thought I would yank on theirs a little.

Possibly, but one of the accusations was that Will Muschamp slid $400 across his desk to a recruit while at Auburn. So, are you pot of kettle?

Hey, guys. I admit I got my jimmies a little rustled. These threads deserve a MUCH faster death. What say we let them sink to the depths?

So a Georgia grad cheated while he was coaching at Auburn. Thanks for proving my point.
