Honestly, I was pretty indifferent when it was suggested that he might leave. I think he’s a good but not elite coordinator. There would have been an opportunity to upgrade. On the other hand, most of the elite coordinators out there are already at top schools and making top dollar. Would have been hard to lure them away especially with our notoriously tight purse strings. And there would have been a chance that the hire was a dud.

Ultimately I’m glad he stayed because I believe continuity of staff is pretty important in the college game if your name isn’t Saban.

I've never seen a long game from Grantham. Continuity from year 1 to year 2 is a good thing. But after year 3, you begin to push your luck.

He doesn't develop talent. And outside of pass rushers, he doesn't bring much to the recruiting game (which is fine if all of your position coaches are stud recruiters). He's the defensive version of McElwain.

Nothing salty about it, you are replacing your entire O-line plus all of your elite talent on D is history. This is where UGA's elite recruiting compared to 3 star U starts to come into play, the talent gap is only widening between the 2 programs.

Florida will never have more 3 stars than they did last year. We had 2 5*, 36 4*, 43 3*, and 4 2* on last years roster. Less than 50% blue chip ratio. This year we are sitting 0/45/38/2. That’s up to 54%. Our roster is only going to get better. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Florida is definitely upgrading talent. That 2015 class for Florida was god awful. Only way to go from there but up.

Still... UGA's 2019 class is equally better than our 2015 class as Florida has done for those respective classes. Solely based upon recruiting rankings, Georgia is holding Florida at an arms length (we both are improving).

Speaking of a deer in headlights... Chaney is at Tennessee. It would be funny if his mastery of Grantham continues and Florida drops one to the Vols because of Grantham's defense.

One of the few things I did like about Grantham is that he made up for his overly aggressive defenses by teaching players how to cause turnovers. DL's had their hands up when the QB was just passing it. DB's would occasionally jump routes. Tackling the players always seemed to put their head right where the ball was jarring it loose.

but if his D didn't create a turnover in a game we usually lost because ummm third and grantham.

It certainly looks that way on paper, we’ll see if it translates to the field in Jacksonville again. I’m certainly already tired of losing that game.

Our position coaches are very good. Especially the new CB coach(thanks btw). So not worried. He developed Miss State pretty well...so I once again call BS from the Georgia crowd.

He was at Mississippi State for 1 year.

While at UGA and Louisville, he failed to develop any backups for after the good players jump to the NFL or graduate.

I don't think you understand what "failed to develop" means. Don't worry. You will.
