Jarrad Davis came to Florida three years ago as a three-star prospect. In one more year, he might be the first linebacker selected in the NFL Draft, and he credits Will Muschamp with helping him bridge that gap.
“At the end of the day, I’m extremely thankful for Muschamp because he’s the one that got me to the University of Florida,” Davis said Monday. “He took a chance on me. I might not have been the guy they expected me to be early on, but here I am now.”
“I am really excited for him,” Davis said. “The fact that it’s in the SEC East is kind of even better because we get to see him again. I loved Muschamp when he was here, and I still have a lot of love for him.”
Davis described Muschamp as “a players’ coach, all the way.”
“He took care of us,” Davis said. “He would go out on a limb for us. It was all for us.”
quote:
It will be “kinda weird” to see Muschamp on the opposite sideline at The Swamp when the Gamecocks play at Florida on Nov. 12, Gators safety Marcus Maye said.
“He was my position coach, so I got a lot of him, and it helped me to where I am today,” Maye said.
“He expects you to be great,” Maye said. “That’s what he wants for you. That’s how he is. He takes pride in the way he is and his defense. He does it because he wants you to be great. I feel like a lot of the guys he recruited that we have in our secondary, having him there when we were young is one of the reasons we are where we are.”
quote:
Auburn brought two defenders to Monday’s opening session – linemen Montravius Adams and Carl Lawson – who played for Muschamp last year, when he was the Tigers’ defensive coordinator.
“We all loved Coach Muschamp,” Adams said. “He was a great coach, and we all miss him. He’s going to make them better. He was always there for everybody.”
Like all of Muschamp’s players, Adams has seen the volatile side of his coaching.
“I think he broke one of his fingers one game,” Adams said. “He punched something. Oh, it was a clipboard.”

I think Muschampp and South Carolina are perfect for each other.

tFear is real. What's Muschamp's record vs Tenn again?

I think so, at this time. We needed someone who would energize recruiting and spend MUCH more time on evaluations, plus someone who could bring in an elite staff. We lacked that the last couple years and it showed.

Will Muschamp was horrible at Florida and he wasn't very impressive as the defensive coordinator at Auburn this past year, but now that he's at South Carolina, he's the best coach ever!!

Yeah, as much as everyone liked Spurrier it was obvious that he took an approach that was borderline lazy to recruiting and he just didn't give it his best shot. His last couple of years set you guys back and he should have hung it up much earlier. Good luck with boom.

Wow he punched a white board. What a badass.

He had a winning record, he didn't win as much as uf would have liked, but it wasn't horrible. His Defenses at UF were Top15 Overall nationally consistently. Going over his career at UF, Auburn, Texas, LSU, his defenses are consistently in the Top15 as well.

If you say so. We'll wait and see. Has anyone found out who Barry Odom is? Is he or is he not related to Lamar? I still have no idea, but hopefully SEC Media Days will shed some light on this.

I'm in my post-coital refractory period at the moment...

He certainly will be a great Defensive coach for SC and that will be a huge help because the past two years has been some of the worst defense I've ever seen (only behind 2012 VOLS).
But He will need consistent offense to do more than win 8 or 9 games at his best (which I do think he will achieve at SC).
So the jury is obviously very out there still.

Spurrier never was a big time recruiter at SC or UF. He didn't go out to recruit like Saban, Urban, Muschamp, etc.... The problem wasn't Spurrier's lack of recruiting prowess, he just chose the wrong people for the wrong jobs. He made his son Recruiting Coordinator, after Shame Beamer left, and his son didn't like taking calls/texts from recruits after 6 p.m....

We're not back as terribly far as many think. Our 2015 class was stout with DL talent that we badly needed the most, but they just needed real coaching to develop. We'll see what kind of product Lance Thompson can create with 8 months to prepare. Spurrier left us weapons on offense, we almost always have some playmaker who ends up All SEC on offense (at least the past 10 years.)

Damn us for trying to find any positives we can and hoping that it might work out.

He is going to be in a full body cast by the end of the season at USC

Idk that was what was being insinuated. More like booms relationship with his players is different than what is depicted by gifs or sideline demeanor.
Also I agree about spurrier. We are already hearing about muschamp being lead recruiter for big time guys. Those same guys MIGHT be able to talk to spurrier if they came to campus. My only real knock on the guy.

I liked Muschamp but he had to go. Not gonna bash him.
