But of course it's about the money they're losing.

Still cheaper than that what it would cost to play a full season.

School sent out surveys to the coaches asking how much it'd take. You think they'd answer that with the bare minimum if they thought the intention was to get them that money?

And? You think that the other CUSA schools are just magically competing free of cost?

They owe Kentucky $500,000 for a 2016 game.

UAB said in a release that it subsidizes $20 million of the athletic department's operating budget of some $30 million annually, and said both those numbers rank fifth in Conference USA. The university said the difference over the next five years would be an extra $49 million with football, including a projected $22 million needed for football facilities and upgrades.

UAB will have to pay $2.425 million for canceling future games with Tennessee, Kentucky, Troy, South Alabama and Georgia State, sources told ESPN's Brett McMurphy. UAB was scheduled to play Tennessee in Nashville in 2015 and at Kentucky in 2016.

UAB must pay Tennessee $925,000 and Kentucky $500,000 to get out of those games. The Blazers also must pay for canceling future home-and-home series in 2015 and 2016 with Troy ($400,000), South Alabama ($300,000) and Georgia State ($300,000), which will cost UAB a total of $1 million to end.

This will hurt every single scholarship athlete across all sports at UAB.

I am just imagining Butch Jones and Smokey frolicking in a bed filled with 185,000 $5 bills.

UAB already stated they would honor scholarships to those athletes affected until the end of their original eligibility expiration.

That's the intention. They're trying to end UAB undergrad.

You seem quite invested in UAB football. How much have you donated? Are you a season ticket holder?

So? They'll be kicked out of CUSA after this year. I don't see a lot of these kids sticking around.

he's a liberal, thus he's against personal responsibility.

This won't just hurt the athletes though.

What about the band? What's the point in having a full marching band without football? Where will they perform? You don't bring a full band to basketball games. You don't bring one at all to baseball games.

What about the cheerleaders? Like most schools UAB has separate squads for football and basketball. I know some extremely attractive UAB cheerleaders that are very upset right now.

That's a fricked up mentality. Do you think that the Million Dollar Band and Bama cheerleaders make money for Bama? We should just do away with all those scholarships then. frick kids and their educations, that shite doesn't make me any money, amirite?

I honestly wouldn't notice if we got rid of the band and cheerleaders.

Look at the packed house they were performing in front of. What will they do without this experience?
