Hugh Freeze has checked out and is simply waiting for his buyout at the end of this season.

What fricking championship did you win with JPW in 2006?
Are you fricking retarded?
JPW in 2006 (Mike Shula) was the last Alabama QB to not win any championship in his first season as QB1.
Hope this helps, Mensa.

And yet, retard Gumps think he’ll be an upgrade over the 2 year starter that took them to the CFP and was a Top 6 QB in the draft
As a bama fan, I agree with this.

Not sure how a QB that can potentially run DeBoer's system better than Milroe (who couldn't run it at all, so the bar is low) will be a downgrade just because he can't run as fast.

Why couldn't he get on the field last year?

Since you never leave this site, I'm sure you've asked this question and been given the answer enough times already during last season and up to this point.

Jimbo really wanted Ty Simpson. Should tell you all you need to know.

What does that mean? Either Ty Simpson is going to be a great Alabama quarterback or an average Alabama quarterback?

He needed another year of growth. He got that. Now he is ready.
Is that so hard concept to understand?

There has never once in the history of college football been a qb who did well his first year as a starter. You might as well not even play the season if you don't have a returning qb

Pretty wild that LSU and Auburn can't beat a declining Alabama. And not just fail to beat Bama, but get absolutely railed by them every year.
It shows two things:
1. How far behind their programs are even to a transitioning Alabama program.
2. Bama's fall wasn't as far as they thought, and probably won't be.
I'm sure that reality has caused a lot of domestic violence and animal cruelty.

Freeze used to be a QB guy but something happened and now his QBS are junk
Actually, Freeze doesn't "know QB's". He, like Malzahn, came into the SEC with a new brand of offense that caught defenses and DC's off guard. After the defenses adjusted, their quarterbacks seemingly got worse. Now that the SEC has fully gotten used to hurry-up no-huddle offenses, Freeze has lost his QB "magic".

Explains why after all this time he has still never started a game.

Aside from the crazy rumors about a player revolt, I can tell you that a big part of the reason why he didn't start was because the staff thought Milroe's athleticism and open field speed was too much not to use and sit the bench. From a passing standpoint, Ty did some things better than Milroe (i.e., the intermediate passing game), and Milroe did some things better than Simpson (throwing the deep ball). When you net out their strengths and weaknesses just from that information, Milroe got the nod. The only problem with going with Milroe was that it limited how much of DeBoer's true offense could be installed. As per an interview during the year, DeBoer admitted that only about 10% of his offense would be installed last season. Milroe's strength's just didn't play into the strength's needed to run DeBoer's full offense. But again, the staff felt like his elite speed and athleticism was too much not to utilize. They also weighed the fact that it would be easier to install the entire offense next season because they would have a full offseason and a QB (in Simpson) who is more suited to run the entire offense.
The above was told to me by a player who is no longer on the team, but transferred out after the season. Take it for what it's worth. Believe or not...

Fair enough, I personally don't think Milroe was as bad as some like to think.
I could see a situation where Simpson doesn't lose a game like Oklahoma but perhaps he doesn't beat Georgia.

His bad moments came when teams could keep him in the pocket, stop him from using his legs and force him to go through complicated progressions. If you gave him easy reads he'd eat you alive passing. But the more complicated the reads, the more he struggled.

Alright so is deboer a QB guy or are defenses going to adjust to his offense?
